"Zavala did an excellent job installing my outdoor patio tile 300sqft. They prep the area and put back all the landscaping rocks and left the area clean. Arrived on time every day and provided daily progress photos. I am looking forward to hiring them again when I am ready to do my master bath."

"I needed new flooring installed along with some updates to my kitchen and living area, and CC Floors Austin absolutely delivered. The work was done inside my home here in Texas, and the results speak for themselves. The new luxury vinyl plank floors look flawless, and the kitchen updates with the counters and backsplash came out crisp and modern. From start to finish, the crew was professional, punctual, and easy to work with. They kept me updated, stayed on schedule, and made sure everything was spotless when the job was done. I?ve had several friends and neighbors already comment on how sharp the place looks. If you?re in Texas and looking for quality flooring or remodel work done right, CC Floors Austin is the team you want. I couldn?t be happier with the transformation."

"From start to finish, E & E were great to work with. Emilio contacted me promptly, asked questions, and gave a fair bid. We needed the job done quickly, and they fit us in right away. They were quick and did a really nice job on our tile backsplash. I highly recommend them!"

"The day the tile wall in my master bathroom collapsed when I leaned on it turned out to be my lucky day—it led me to Joe Maxwell and Tile & Grout Solutions, Inc. Joe and his installer Kiki (a tile genius!) built a beautiful walk-in shower where the tub used to be. That shower became what was until recently the best-built part of the house—now it is joined by the gorgeous porcelain tile floors throughout our downstairs and on our stairs! Joe was a delight to work with from the very start. His estimates were thorough, and he explained every step in the installation process, including the timing and the materials needed. Joe, Kiki, and their assistant tiler Leo were meticulous in their work, and they adapted adroitly to the unexpected—such as when they pulled up some old tile and found a hole through the slab with a water pipe running through it! The only reason there wasn’t a fountain in my entryway that day is because of Joe’s and Kiki’s ears: before pulling up the old tile, Joe happened to drop something on the tile covering the hole. When the thing hit the tile, it went “plink” instead of “thunk.” Joe and Kiki looked at each other in alarm—“plink” indicated a hollow spot under the tile where it should be solid. So, instead of using a jackhammer to pull up the tile, they gently used a hammer and scraper. Fortunately, that hole was the only surprise, and the rest of the job went smoothly. Every evening, my husband and I come home and remark on how beautiful our floors are—we are thrilled! We hope Joe and Kiki can put up with us when it comes time to tile our upstairs! Thank you, Tile & Grout Solutions, Inc."

"Angela, manager and owner of Peppy Goat Home Solutions, started and completed the job almost immediately, which I truly appreciated due to my timing concerns. Saul, the laminate installer, was professional, skilled and very helpful throughout the process. I’m very happy with the Results."

"Installers showed up on the day they were scheduled. But they did not finish the job. Additional workers came the next day to finish installing the floor. They moved all furniture and re-positioned it where I wanted it. They even installed new toilets at no extra cost to me. I will call them again if I need work on my outside porch."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Grout lines should typically be between 1/8 to 3/16 inch thick. This ensures enough room for the grout to dry properly and makes them wide enough to look clean and professional. If grout lines are too small, it can be easier to see imperfections in the spacing.

The best bathroom floor tiles are strong enough to withstand the weight of a clawfoot tub. However, professional tile installation is essential. If the tiles are uneven or improperly fixed, they may crack under the pressure. Be careful when installing the tub—if it drops or drags on the tiles, it could easily cause scratches or cracks.

If the hearth ends against a wall, you can use a tile cutter as you normally would. However, if the edge of your hearth ends with no surface pressing against it,you may want to look into rounded tiles. These give a smooth edge to your hearth and make sure cut edges aren’t visible. You can also see if the tile you have has pieces that have been glazed or rounded on one edge. You’d then cut the tile and place it normally, with the cut edge facing inward.

Glazed ceramic tiles don’t need to be sealed because the glazing already offers some protection against moisture. Unglazed ceramic tiles need to be sealed to keep the porous tile safe from moisture and staining. However, both types of tile can benefit from sealing. Sealant can make the tiles easier to keep clean and offer more resistance to water, spills, and stains.

When working on your bathroom floor tiling, you should always tile the floor first and then refit the toilet afterward. This has both practical and visual advantages—the tile will have a better seal, and the installation will look cleaner.

On the other hand, when you try to cut the tiles to fit around the toilet, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. It’s a lot more work, it’s hard to be precise, and mistakes or miscalculations can lead to future moisture damage to the tiling, grout, and subfloor.
