"My kitchen backsplash came out even better than I imagined. The CC Floors Austin team was professional and friendly. They worked quickly but made sure every detail was right. When they finished, the space was spotless and ready to enjoy. The tile looks beautiful and completely changes the kitchen. I would recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their home."

"This company was very professional, punctual, and gave attention to every detail of the project. Kris was a pleasure to work with, and very kind. The crew sent out to do the tile work for my hall bathroom was exceptional. They first put brown paper on the floor where they were going to be walking in and out. As they brought in materials and did the work they were very careful not to hit any walls or furniture or doors. The tile work on the tub surround was beautiful and I could not be more pleased. Clean up was thorough, and Kris came to check the job after it was finished to make sure everything was good. I highly recommend this company."

"These guys were terrific! I had previously hired a man who obviously did not know what he was doing, just made a mess and wasted my time and money but, I called Tile & Grout Solutions and told them I needed help ASAP and they responded right away. Within 5 days they had torn out the mess the previous contractor had made in a week's time and installed a beautiful shower, just what I wanted! And WORK? My goodness those boys work, and fast!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, unfortunately, it is normal for wall and floor tiles to crack, especially when you drop heavy items on tiled floors or place heavy objects on them. Tiles are also more susceptible to cracking when ceramic tiles designed for walls are installed on floors, as these are often not strong enough to handle heavy loads from foot traffic and furniture. Similarly, tiles that are installed incorrectly, lack adequate subflooring, or have other installation problems are prone to cracking. To avoid these problems and the inevitable repair and replacement costs they bring, always hire a professional for tile work and follow best practices for installation.

Technically, you can start tiling in a corner and work your way out. However, it's not traditionally how tiling is done. Instead, work from the bottom middle of the wall. Tile out the entire row with whole tiles before moving on to the next row. Once you finish installing all of the whole tiles, then you focus on tiling the corners.

You can, in theory, tile your fireplace hearth with most tiles. However just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. For example, it’s much better to use unglazed tiles because glazed tiles are more resistant to cracking under extreme heat. Porcelain is more heat-resistant than ceramic, but you can still design the hearth as you like by putting the most heat-resistant tiles directly under the fire and, if it matches your style, add more decorative tiles further from the center of the fire.

The process takes two to four days, depending on the size of the area and your experience level. The first day involves assessing and prepping the existing tile, while the second day is for laying the new tile. This may take longer in complex areas. After letting the adhesive dry for 24 hours, grouting and sealing can be completed on day three. For larger projects or intricate tile patterns, expect the timeline to stretch a bit longer. Also, proper drying time between steps is essential for long-lasting results, which extends the project’s time.

Poured-in-place terrazzo flooring is more durable than tile. In fact, it’s one of the most durable types of flooring on the market. It can last anywhere from 40 to 100 years, depending on maintenance. On average, you can expect your terrazzo floor to last about 75 years, but you will have to make repairs as needed.
