"The whole process with Natural Stone Design was easy and professional. I am a commercial contractor, so there are some things that I look for when dealing with companies. At the top of the list is a clear understanding of cost structure. I recognize that companies need to make money I and I am not one to try and dicker over the cost of everything. Natural Stone is as transparent as possible. They will tell you right up front what there costs are for each level of granite. They then send you to their wholesaler where you will know the cost of the counters before you leave the wholesaler. Much better than going to the wholesaler and picking a granite just to find out later that it is way to far out of your budget and then having to redo the process.

In all phases, making the templates, fabricating the stone, keeping us informed of milestones that we needed to keep (ie making sure we had a sink, faucets, etc.) and installation, they keep their commitments.

I would highly recommend using them. We will as the next thing for us is the Master Bath and this where we are going to get counters.

"Carlos and his assistant Alejandro from New Gen Stone did excellent work installing the countertops in this old house. The floors aren’t level the walls aren’t square, and he adjusted for all of it. He also took the effort to only make one seam in the entire layout and have all the pieces fit from one slab!! We decided to make the seam at the sink where it would be the smallest. Although he does back-lit crystal quartzite in million dollar homes he treated our project with precision, detail, and care. Absolutely thrilled with the end results."

"They did a fantastic job installing my kitchen quartz countertops and backsplash. They matched the veining so that it ran consecutively from the backsplash to the countertop in multiple areas. Very happy with the outcome! Would highly recommend."

"I hired Guys Unlimited 4 Rent after seeing the amazing Angie’s list reviews. And I met several times with Joseluis and Enrique before deciding to go with their bid. We agreed on a multi phased project to remodel our backyard patio, put in a stamped concrete slab, backyard office and foundation, replaced a door and an entire stone walkway on the side of the house. They completed everything in roughly 2.5 months and we are very pleased with the work. Very hard working guys and we had specialists in stone, granite, foundation, and framing/electrical/etc. all come in a different points to put their touch on it. The photos speak for themselves. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone and already have to friends and neighbors."

"My remodel process beginning to end when I first met Mr. Bryson , Carpenter’s Hand. He wanted an ideal of what they could design strictly on budget or by getting to know my personality to match my kitchen. Mr. Bryson asked me, “‘what I wanted my Dream kitchen to looks like, (Colors/ countertops/ design) ? Overall, I came to the realization that I was going to cut back a little bit on my budget! Lol,.. The Carpenter’s Hand gave me so much more than I could afford using my budget wisely. I loved everything most importantly the quality of their work and attention to detail surpassed my expectations! I’d like to say, I did my homework on the price without compromising Quality!!! I made the right choice, in trusting them with my Remodel! Thank You, The Carpenter’s Hand, for my beautiful Kitchen... "Dave is one of the most professional contractors I have ever worked with in 20 years. He keeps you informed for the entire project and goes beyond your expectations. I live out of town so it was very important to be updated. Dave called, sent texts, and photos to ensure my comfort with the progress. He is very concerned about your property and makes you aware of any issues that need to be addressed. I highly recommend Dave and his company."

Stone Countertops FAQs, answered by experts

The cost of granite countertops is around $3,250 for most homeowners, but you could pay as low as $500 or over $4,000, depending on the size of your project and some other factors. In addition to the square feet of granite you need, your pricing will also depend on the following:

  • Granite thickness

  • Quality and rarity of the granite, labeled in levels from one to five

  • Granite color and texture

  • Countertop design

A countertop contractor is the best person to install your quartz countertop. Because installing quartz countertops can be challenging, it’s important to consult a professional with experience installing quartz slabs to get the job done right. Repairing quartz countertops can be expensive, so it’s important to hire a professional to avoid damage.

With the cost of kitchen countertops ranging from $1,900 to $4,300, you’ll want to choose a countertop material that’s durable and cost-effective. Marble countertops will come in on the high-end, whereas corian, quartz, stainless steel, and granite will run in the middle range. Butcher block and laminate are the most budget-friendly—and many DIYers choose to install butcher block on their own because it’s one of the more accessible countertops.

Quartzite is more expensive than granite, largely because of its rarity. Granite is naturally more common. A granite slab generally costs $40 to $60 per square foot (excluding super-rare types), while quartzite slabs cost anywhere from $50 to $150 per square foot.

With both materials, it’s usually more affordable to purchase stones that are readily available in your location. You may need to import other stones, which come at a higher cost.

Concrete and granite are both extremely durable materials. One isn’t necessarily better than the other. It depends on what you’re looking for. That said, granite is less costly and requires less maintenance. Furthermore, concrete is more prone to staining and cracking, though you can patch the cracks using a concrete patching compound.
