"David was on TOP of this job from the beginning! We wanted slate which takes significant skill to work, and David and his crew obviously had the expertise to deliver. This wasnâ t your typical kitchen granite. Additionally, David worked closely with our general contractor to bring the job into our budget. We sincerely could NOT be more pleased with the work that Value Cabinetry delivered to make the central piece of our entire remodel truly unique and SPECIAL!"

Small jobs welcome

I am a handyman, working in Texas for more than 10 years. Grew up with a veteran electrician, I was able to handle houseld projects since my childhood. I was fixing electronics and appliances during my teenager years.\n\nI worked in databases for handling stacks, grids and data installations. I also worked for infrastruture projects before retiring.\n\nI am now offering my expertise in fixing household and commercial areas, whether those being structural, minor, related to electrical or plumbing. Most cases, I am invited to fix an issue, and I end up working on other things too when people see that I can comfortably solve broken electricity, install light/fan, stop leaks, fix non-closing doors, loose fence or gate, or do something that was not done correctly. I love carpentry and electricty especially. And I remodel my own bathroom, garage with epoxy, hang my own motorized curtains ad operate them, install zip tracks at patio to create a great environment in the yard. \n\nThanks y'all

Cabinet Contractors questions, answered by experts

Before making any big plans, climb up a step ladder and closely examine the top of your cabinets. You’ll get to see what sort of clean-up work needs to be done, but you can also check for any unexpected obstacles. Sometimes this space holds electrical boxes, wiring, or even plumbing components. Those will affect plans to install a new layer of cabinets or shelves.

Costs range from $3,000 to $8,000, depending on the material, design, and number of cabinets.

The cost to install soft-close drawers professionally typically ranges from $40 to $100 per drawer. If you prefer a DIY approach, you can purchase the necessary hardware yourself. Soft-close inserts usually cost between $15 and $25 per drawer, while soft-close drawer slides can range from $5 to $230 each, depending on factors like quality, quantity, and type (e.g., heavy-duty, side mount, under mount, or self-closing). Investing in soft-close mechanisms can be worthwhile as they eliminate slamming and may help extend the lifespan of your drawers.

It is typically cheaper to buy stock or semi-custom cabinets than to build custom ones. The price difference is significant:

  • Custom Cabinets: Cost between $500 and $1,200 per linear foot. This price is affected by materials, size, design complexity, and door styles. For instance, a simple slab door's materials might cost $60-$70, while a decorative mullioned glass door could be $100-$200.

  • Semi-Custom Cabinets: Cost between $150 and $700 per linear foot.

  • Stock Cabinets: Cost between $100 and $400 per linear foot.

While buying pre-built cabinets is more cost-effective, building custom cabinets allows for full modification to fit unique spaces, such as rooms with high ceilings or unusual layouts, which stock options cannot accommodate.

While a three-inch center-to-center handle is common, there’s no guarantee that sizing will be the same for every cabinet. Different types of handles have different sized holes to attach them and there are lots of different cabinet handle widths and styles. You should measure to be sure you know the size of a handle and to avoid surprises.
