"I purchased my first water softener and reverse osmosis water purifier 18 years ago when we first built our house. We loved both! But nothing lasts forever and both needed to be replaced. Luckily, I still had the paperwork from the original installation and I knew who to call. I received the same great service and attention as I had 18 years ago. Both the office staff and installers were extremely professional and courteous. The installers were very good about explaining everything…how the equipment worked and how to maintain it. A big plus for me, is they were very respectful of my property. They left everything clean and organized before leaving."

Residential and business water treatment systems. Water softeners, UV lights. We will analyze your water for contaminants such as chlorine, low pH, iron, bacteria, and devise a system to suit your needs. Treat your water from the source, as it enters your home, so whether you are drinking it, cooking with it or bathing in it, your water is pure.
"The process was quick and easy. I just provided a water sample. It was determined that I had high levels of chlorine in our drinking water. I was able to solve my water problems with only one filter. Why did I wait years to have this done? Now I can be confident that our water is safe. Highly recommended."

"As an engineering manager with experience overseeing technical teams and large-scale installations, I expect a level of accountability and quality in any professional service engagement. ARS Houston completely missed the mark. I was sold a $37,000 solution that was marketed as a top-tier, whole-home upgrade. They promised zoning capabilities, improved air quality, and attic humidity control — all the bells and whistles. What I actually received was a partial install where key components were reused, basic features were either missing or incorrectly implemented, and over-the-top markups were applied to items like UV lights and attic fans that are easily sourced for a fraction of the price. The system failed to cool my home from day one. It took a week to get a technician back. When they came, they added vents — something that should have been part of a proper design from the beginning. Fast forward to this year: the system is underperforming again. I was told the valves were failing, and that it would cost me $3,000 to repair. I pointed out that Carrier offers a 10-year parts warranty, and that I was within the period where labor should also be covered. Still, ARS quoted $1,800 to “cover their technician’s cost for the day.” As someone who manages budgets and personnel in a technical environment, I recognize internal labor cost estimates — but that’s a planning tool, not a fair way to price service to a customer, especially when you're correcting your own failure. Even after a field supervisor agreed the parts needed replacement and promised a return visit, I’ve now gone three weeks and made six follow-up calls with zero response. This is not just a poor customer experience — it’s a systemic failure of quality, transparency, and follow-through."

Finding a good plumber is about more than getting a quick fix—it's about finding someone who can help keep your plumbing working for years to come. More importantly, our plumbers are as courteous as they are highly trained, making our service the most stress-free experience you'll ever have with a plumber.
"Mr. Rooter unethically dishonest the technician michael and his assistant had come to repair the main valve as well as a leakage due to a faulty toilet pump. the toilet pump valve needed to be replaced. michael asked me if they could come back after the part (under warranty) had arrived. we told them that our contractor could do the replacement. michael told me that the replacement part had been ordered. I was a bit surprised as of how quick the part was ordered (within a few minutes), but thought maybe he had inside connections to do that much quicker than I could. after waiting for almost 4 weeks, the part never came. I contacted customer service via email. sharon responded and told me that michael had ordered the part again. it would be delivered to their office, and they asked me again if they could come out for installation. I told them that wouldn’t be needed as our contractor would be doing that. I asked them to let me know when the part had arrived, so that our contractor could go to their office to pick it up. after waiting for 3 weeks, the part still never came. I contacted sharon again. she said that the order had been shipped to our house. what? they told me earlier that it had been ordered and would be shipped to their office. now it had been shipped to our house? notice how the story had changed? sharon’s last email to me was on may 15th. I had contacted her twice (on may 18th and may 22nd) asking for the part number so that I could contact the manufacturer. we had to figure out the part number (which was the main reason why we contacted Mr. Rooter’s customer service in the first place), and contacted the manufacturer. they said that they never got any request to send a replacement part to our home address. it was when I realized that michael had never ordered the part in the first place. it is because we had declined for them to come back again for the installation, thus no reason for them to order the part. we are beyond disgusted that we had to wait more than 2 months for a part that never came. and with their empty promises of having ordered the part. to us, that was unethically dishonest (because we had declined their offer to come over to do the part replacement). they could have given us the part number and asked us to make an order ourselves instead of waiting for nothing."

The license requirements for water softener installation depend on your location. Some municipalities require that the installer hold a plumbing license, some require a permit and an inspection, but no license for the installer, and some require a permit and a license for the installer. Regardless of the local laws in your area, it’s always a good idea to hire a licensed plumber or installer. These pros will install your system properly and have the experience to size the system appropriately. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your installer’s license status.
The cost to install a water softener system is $1,500 on average, ranging between $200 and $6,000. The labor for water softener work typically costs between $150 and $1,000, so you can add that to your equipment costs to get an accurate total. Your price will depend on many factors, including the following:
System capacity
Home size
Water hardness levels
Type of water softener
Presence of electricity in the installation area
Local permit costs
Water softeners are worth the money if you live in an area with hard water. Hard water is safe to drink, but it poses serious threats to your plumbing system. The minerals in hard water will gradually build up on the inside walls of your pipes, reducing water flow to your fixtures. The minerals can also gradually corrode your plumbing system, reduce its lifespan, and increase the risk of leaks. Hard water also makes soap and detergent less effective. Water softener systems can solve all these issues, making them a great investment.
It’s possible to install a water softener yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Water softeners require working with copper pipes and electrical wiring, neither are suitable tasks for most DIYers. Plus, working with water and electricity together is dangerous and could pose a risk to your safety. Water softeners also need to be calibrated so that they don’t make your water too soft, as soft water poses just as many risks as hard water. Overall, it’s well worth hiring a local water softener installer to place your water softener system.
Your water softener size is based on your total household water consumption. In most cases, you can assume the average household member will use around 75 gallons per day. Multiply that by the number of people in your home, then multiply by 10 (for the typical grains per gallon). You’ll get a number in grains that should help roughly size your water softener. However, it’s best to hire a professional to install your system and use more exact numbers, like your exact average water consumption per day and starting water hardness.
