"I was so impressed by Art and Tony's work that I kept expanding the scope of my projects. They are excellent craftsmen who take pride in their work and ensure everything is perfect. I enjoyed having them at my house. I hired them to replace trim, repair rotten wood and paint facia in coordination with my roofer (Yuras Roofing). Then I had him install siding. Then I asked them to paint the exterior of my house. Then I asked them to install doors, windows, siding and rehab a 2nd story cedar deck. Every project was perfect. I'm very happy. After 35 years of home ownership I finally found a painter, remodeler and carpenter I want to use again and again."

To layer wallpaper over wallpaper, inspect your existing wallpaper for problem areas. Damaged wallpaper should not be covered. If it’s okay to proceed, prep by turning off the electricity and removing any outlet and switch covers. Dust your walls and lightly rinse them to prevent the existing paper from peeling. Apply primer, then apply your new wallpaper.

The color of the paint, its opacity, and the depth of the texture on the paper all affect how many coats of paint you need to apply to paintable wallpaper. You'll need at least two coats of paint to ensure even coverage. Don’t be surprised if you need to apply three coats if the embossing is very deep or if you use a dark color.

Many types of peel-and-stick wallpaper can hold up to environments with some level of moisture, such as bathrooms—especially peel-and-stick wallpapers made of vinyl or polyester. However, if you’re considering wallpapering a bathroom that sees a lot of moisture, like a kids’ bathroom or a full bathroom with a steamy shower and inadequate ventilation, even the highest quality wallpapers will peel.

If you can already see the texture of the existing wallpaper through the layer of paint, then the texture could also come through the new layer of wallpaper. If that’s the aesthetic you want, then proceed. But if you want a smoother surface, you should either strip off the existing paint and wallpaper or hang a layer of liner paper before proceeding.
