"Our crew of 6 were amazing! We have moved several times over the years, and this was by far the most professional & efficient moving crew we’ve ever worked with. We have some extremely heavy and ornate pieces, and they were all moved with great care. We plan to to use Chaparral Moving for all of our future moves!"

"The move went great. William and Dillon were great to work with.   The job was done within the quoted amount.   They called me to confirm arrival time, they were on time, very responsive and customer focused.    NOTHING was broken and everything was put in its place.   Moving is not fun but William and Dillon made it a good experience.  Thanks guys.

"The moving went very smooth. Charles family services were very professional and kept us notified in the move. They made sure the move went without any glitches and were on time. Definitely I would recommend them for local/long distance moves. They treated the properties like it was their own and ensured nothing would be damaged during this move."

"They were professional, on time, exceeded my expectations, and I will use them again. I already recommended them to my daughter who is moving soon. They took great care of my wife's piano. I called at least 15 other movers who used every excuse not to move the 500 lb tub. I even had another mover who I had to fire on the spot because they scratched the tub before they ever got out of the garage. They gave me a quote for the move, it was spot on. There were no surprises and they never made an excuse that the tub was too heavy. If you have something heavy that you need moved, these are the movers to call.

"Kaleb called me the morning of to confirm what time they would be arriving. The movers came when they said they would, and began packing everything up. It only took a few hours and they were on their way. I went to lunch and met them at the house where they had already begun unpacking my stuff. I haven't completely unpacked as of now, but so far nothing is broken (MY BIGGEST FEAR). So I'm happy and would recommend them.

Piano Moving questions, answered by experts

Yes, moving a piano often causes it to become out of tune, even if you're not moving the piano very far. One reason is that any temperature and humidity changes can affect a piano's tuning. Additionally, the bumps and jolts from a moving truck usually push a piano out of tune.

However, don't jump right to tuning it once the piano gets to your new home. Instead, it's best to wait at least two weeks for the instrument to acclimate to its new environment. After a couple weeks, you'll get an idea of what the piano will really sound like in its new home, at which point you can call a piano technician to get it properly tuned.

Planning ahead is essential—this will give you the chance to coordinate your move during weekends or after business hours, and set up essential services in your new office before moving day to minimize downtime. Start by creating a detailed timeline and checklist for every phase of the move, from packing to unpacking. Inform your employees, clients, and vendors about the move well in advance, including any expected disruptions and how you plan to manage them. Delegate responsibilities to ensure all aspects of the move are covered. Lastly, set up the essentials at the new location first to resume operations quickly.

You should consider hiring professional movers for moves that seem too daunting, dangerous, or involve large, heavy objects. The larger your home and the longer the distance, the more likely you are to need professional help. A moving service can take the hardest tasks off your plate and reduce the risk of personal injury. However, if you are only moving a few light items, you can save money by moving on your own and renting a truck. Keep in mind that a DIY move requires significant planning and time. A hybrid option is also available, where you hire movers just to lift and transport heavy items to your vehicle.

The average cost to hire professional movers is approximately $1,700, but the total price can range from as low as $920 to over $12,000 depending on the move's complexity. For local moves, typically under 100 miles, costs generally fall between $920 and $2,530. Long-distance moves are more expensive, with prices ranging from $2,700 to $10,000 or more.

Several key factors influence the final cost:

  • Distance and Home Size: The mileage of the move and the size of your home.

  • Number of Movers: Hourly rates can range from $25 to $50 for one or two movers, increasing to $100 to $200 for a team of four or more.

  • Services: Additional services like packing, unpacking, and storage will add to the cost.

  • Specialty Items: Moving large or delicate items such as pianos, vehicles, or large aquariums incurs extra charges.

  • Timing and Access: The time of year, your specific moving date, and the ease of access to your home can affect rates.

Don’t forget to account for other potential costs like moving supplies and tipping your movers.

The first step to choosing a relocation company is determining the distance of your move, types of services needed, and how many professional movers you need to hire. Once you set the parameter of your move, get price quotes from at least three local moving companies to compare pricing. Then, choose a relocation company that fits within your budget, supplies the necessary services, and has positive reviews from previous moving customers.
