"Max, Sam, and Pedro did a fantastic job installing plantation shutters in a home we recently purchased. We replaced the curtains in two windows, one of which was a bay window that had severe angles (not so easy for final trim on shutters). Professional Design Center met the install deadline and returned to redo the trim on the bay window after we raised the issue. They went above and beyond what we expected and we are absolutely pleased with their quality, cost, delivery, and professionalism."

Small jobs welcome

"Would not recommend Authentic Blinds. While the outdoor shades turned out very nice, the indoor shades installed in my home were extremely disappointing in quality, especially considering the investment and caliber of my home. One of the biggest frustrations was the lack of transparency after installation. The installer refused to provide detailed information about the blinds that were installed, which made the experience even more concerning. In addition, working with Andy was very difficult. Pricing changed multiple times throughout the process, and communication often became unnecessarily confrontational over minor issues. Overall, the experience lacked the professionalism, consistency, and product quality I expected."

Customers say: True professional

"Lonnie did a great job, thanks! The project was to install 3 grab bars and a handheld shower head in one bathroom and a handheld shower head in 2 other bathrooms. I supplied hardware and plans, and Lonnie installed them as requested to a high standard. He is easy to work with and has a respectful, pleasant personality. I would not hesitate to work with Lonnie again on other home projects. Thanks Lonnie!"

Window Treatments questions, answered by experts

You should avoid using abrasive materials and harsh chemicals when cleaning windows. Abrasive tools like scrubbing pads, rough cloths, or steel wool can permanently scratch and damage the glass. Harsh chemical cleaners containing alcohol or ammonia can damage window treatments, frame materials, and special features like tinting. It is also best to use distilled or filtered water instead of hard water, which can leave spots or streaks. For best results, use a clean microfiber cloth to wash the glass and old black and white newspapers to dry it without leaving streaks.

You can add any type of window to a brick house, so long as the window has proper support. Windows with wider openings and windows in brick walls will need a lintel to support the extra weight above the window frame. A lintel is a support beam that distributes the weight from above evenly around the window.

Yes, you can remove window tint from house windows. You can either use heat to loosen the film before peeling or scrape it away with a blade. You’ll also use a solution to wipe away any adhesive that still clings to the window.

Yes, you absolutely need a permit to add a window to your house. Your contractor can likely obtain this permit on your behalf. Ask about this when getting quotes from multiple window contractors.

One of the best professional cleaning solutions that won’t leave streaks is one gallon of distilled or bottled water mixed with 2 to 4 teaspoons of dish soap. Apply using a sponge in a figure-eight motion, and then use a squeegee to remove the majority of the water and soap. You can finish drying with a piece of old black-and-white newspaper to remove any residue for a streak-free clean every time.
