Painting the interior of a single room will take the average DIYer between 6 and 10 hours. However, your timeframe could increase or decrease based on factors such as your skill level, room size, as well as the number of light switch plates, outlet covers, and other small objects to work around.

While your painters may have a certain price point in mind based on the materials and labor they estimate it will take to paint your house, it may be possible to negotiate with contractors, especially if you have multiple quotes to use as leverage. (A painter may be willing to offer some leeway to keep your business.) You might also be able to score a better deal by paying for your services upfront or bundling multiple services.

While you can paint brick or concrete pavers, you shouldn’t. Even with a matte finishing paint, it still creates a reflective surface where sunlight bounces off. Patchy paint can be caused by not using enough paint on the roller, applying the paint thicker in some areas than others, or repeatedly rolling over the same spot before a previous layer has dried. To ensure an even finish, use enough paint on the roller for full coverage, apply paint evenly without overlapping, and let each coat dry before applying the next one.

The only time that it's okay to leave a paintbrush in water overnight is when you're trying to remove dried-on paint. However, don't allow the bristles to rest on the bottom of the container. Remember that soaking it longer than necessary can damage the brush.
