The membrane they installed not only protects my basement from water damage, the membrane makes the basement look a lot better. The work they did also protects my homes foundation from sinking. "I live in an antebellum house, built in 1837. Over the past 175 years some of the bricks underneath the fireplace in the living room and gathering room had crumbled. The floor needed repairs and leveling. I contacted 4 companies to evaluate the problem and develop a solution. Luke Griffin, with Mr. Foundation, was the only person who actually went under the house and took pictures of the problem for us to see. We were able to see what was happening at the fireplaces. He then studied the problem and the next day offered us a solution. They came and installed steel beams with stainless steel jacks, leveled the floors and resolved the problem. I tell people an elephant now could jump up and down on the floors. Would I recommend Mr. Foundation?? 100%!!! And, FYI, their price was considerably less than two of the other companies."

"Tim was very nice and trustworthy. Our water pressure system wasn't working properly and he was quickly able to diagnose the problem (not the pump, just the tank). He also noticed two other problems while he was looking at the tank - someone who had installed the pipes and fittings used two incompatible metals and it was causing corrosion (which I could clearly see was happening). He also found that the direction of flow in our pipes from the tank to the filters and then to the house were flowing in the wrong direction. Simple fix, but I never would have noticed it. He had the new tank installed, new fittings on the pipes around it, and everything fixed that day.

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

The difference between an ejector pump and a sump pump lies in their purpose and design—an ejector pump functions to remove liquid gray water and soft solid sewage waste from your home. If you have a laundry room or bathroom in your basement, an ejector pump for your sewage tank prevents sewage from backing up in your washing machine or bathroom’s drains.

A sump pump is designed to remove excess groundwater that may enter your home, either due to flooding or periods of heavy rain.

Yes, many providers offer warranties for new pumps and labor. Confirm terms before scheduling.

A small sump pump running infrequently uses an average of 10 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month. The average cost for electricity is $0.171 per kWh. The size and use frequency affect how much electricity it uses. Sump pumps average one-third to one horsepower (hp) motors. One hp is equal to 745.7 watts. Watts multiplied by the time your pump is running divided by 1,000 equals your average kWh. Multiply kWh by your average cost of electricity. In areas with high rain or a marsh basin, the average cost can be as high as $15-$25 a month.

If your sump pump isn’t engaging, it might be clogged with dirt and debris. Check to see if the fitting lid is loose and has been letting debris in. Next, check the float and make sure it’s not obstructed by rust or gunk, which results from insufficient maintenance. Tangled wires or damaged switching systems can also stop your sump pump from engaging.

A water pressure booster doesn't require special maintenance. Like any house system, inspections should be a regular part of your annual schedule. Check for leaks, faulty valves, pressure loss, and mineral build-up. Pressure loss could be a result of mineral build-up, and you can descale the system with a vinegar and water solution.
