But their excellent service continued throughout the project. I needed a total of more than 20 windows replaced in a 70-year old home. Quite a job! They scheduled the installation well in advance so that I could plan my schedule. They came exactly on time on the appointed day. Everyone on the crew was cheerful, courteous, and knowledgeable. When it turned out that some of the materials sent from the factory had minor defects, they not only offered to replace all the defective panes but even showed me a couple of defects that I had not noticed. And they returned not once but twice to be sure that everything was perfect before they called the job complete."

Keep in mind some materials are more likely to stain and chip than others, which is an important factor to consider when it comes to the longevity of your countertops. When properly cared for, Corian® countertops last 20 to 30 years. Maintenance tasks to increase longevity include fixing damage as soon as possible, cleaning up spills immediately, and promptly taking care of small or cosmetic damage. You can buff out scratches with sandpaper and remove water stains with a water stain remover.

Marble countertops are often considered better than limestone because of their superior durability and luxurious appearance. Marble is harder and less prone to scratching and denting, though it still requires maintenance and sealing to prevent stains and etching. Marble is typically more expensive, but its beautiful veining and range of colors offer a high-end look. 

Baking soda can damage some countertops, but it makes an excellent mild abrasive for removing stains on other countertops. For example, never use baking soda on quartz or glass countertops, but you can use it on laminate and tile. Stay away from using it on quartz because it can scratch and damage the counter, and glass is prone to scratches. Since baking soda is a mild abrasive, you can only use it on certain surfaces.

The least porous countertop material is engineered quartz. Made from a blend of natural quartz and resins, it is non-porous and highly resistant to stains, scratches, and bacteria. This makes quartz countertops exceptionally low-maintenance and durable, ideal for kitchens and bathrooms where hygiene and easy upkeep are priorities. Other non-porous options include solid surface materials like Corian, which also offer excellent resistance to moisture and stains.
