"Ronnie & Asiah Tucker are genuine Professional Craftsmen. They paved my very steep 10' wide x 450' driveway in just one day. They and their crew coordinated all aspects of the job. They did fantastic quality workmanship for very fair price. I highly recommend them to my family and friends!"

"Joe was a pleasure to work with. We had an old asphalt driveway that we needed ripped and replaced with cement. We have a giant hill and Joe and his were able to pour our driveway safely and timely. The best thing about Joe is he is true to his word. He shows up on time and does what he says. Joe had great suggestions for taking our driveway to the next level with some stone work on the front entry way. It really makes our driveway stand out and we now have the best on the street! I've already referred him to a few of my neighbors who have been impressed with Joe and his crew."

Customers say: True professional

"I have been searching for about thirteen years for just the right person to concrete my driveway. Jason Minton with A Plus Concrete was / is the one. Jason and his crew are fantastic and did an excellent job! They even worked in the rain to complete the job on time and exactly on schedule. They don’t just show up on time, they show up early (which is very rare these days). Great communication and always accessible. Jason is like a good teacher. If you aren’t familiar with concrete work he’ll patiently describe the process and everything to expect. Jason did everything he said he would do and he and his team made a dream come true for me and my family. I highly recommend Jason with A Plus Concrete!!!"

"We needed some patching and crack filling in our driveway and parking pad and chose J&A after getting bids from 2 other vendors. We were extremely happy we chose them, as they did a beautiful job with the patching, as well as filling some pretty serious cracks. Once sealed it was a top notch job, and we would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a professional looking result."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Professionals restore the surface to a fresh, attractive finish by applying a new, even sealant layer.

Three inches is a great thickness for a residential asphalt driveway that sees minimal to moderate traffic from cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks. However, a thicker driveway can better withstand the weight of a heavier vehicle, such as a trailer or a recreational vehicle. If you drive a heavy vehicle on a thin driveway, you risk cracking and damaging it.

Asphalt edging secures the sides of your driveway to prevent crumbling and cracking over time. Most driveways have edges with a 45-degree grading. This helps transfer some of the stress from the asphalt to the ground underneath. If your driveway doesn’t have proper edging, the pressure from your car may break down the edges over time.

Instead of a set number of types, asphalt comes in variations designed for different needs. Some are categorized by temperature—hot mix, warm mix, and cold mix. Others are sorted by composition, like dense-graded, gap-graded (such as Stone Matrix Asphalt), porous, and mastic asphalt. There are also modified versions with added compounds like polymers, rubber, or emulsions. Instead of focusing on a number, it may be more useful to understand how contractors customize asphalt for durability, climate, and traffic conditions.

An ideal driveway gradient is between 2% and 5%. Anything lower than 1% or higher than 15% can cause problems for your car or property. A driveway with less than a 1% slope increases your likelihood of flooding and water damage, while a driveway with a 15% grade or higher can be too steep for safe traveling.
