"The project was lightning rod installation. The work was custom fitted, very responsive to the owner's requests . The contractor was very helpful with suggestions and implementation of best practices. The contractor was brave & effective at considerable elevation (45-50 feet) above ground level. The end result was aesthetically attractive and the contractor was super amiable; his crew appeared to be dedicated."

"Improve America met with us over a six month period before the remodel began 2/1/2015. As part of the pre-planning stage, Mel Madaris contacted the cabinetry subcontractor and the tiling subcontractor to meet with us so they could see our vision and assist us with our choices and certain items that we had not yet considered.  Financially, we were able to make sound decisions as to what expenses we were ready to take for the best quality of materials and craftsmanship. This was needed on our part to plan financially as well as time to choose flooring materials, cabinetry, backsplash and counters, sinks, appliances, and other items.

Just as the subfloors were exposed, we had several snows which tend to shut down the south.  There was about one-week delay, before everything began flowing together again.

Mel Madaris, the contractor, was present several times a week and/or called to update us concerning the project?s progress as well as our level of satisfaction.

During one visit, we expressed our concern that the painting was substandard.  He had the painters redo the work twice.  After that he replaced the original painter with a superb painter that competed the painting and the finishing of all the millwork and stairs.

This was our only glitch during the project. We were appreciative of the way Improve America was responsive to our concerns and remedied the difficulty with diplomacy.

All promises and contractual agreements were kept.  All the subcontracting crews worked well together. The project clean-up was efficient and well done.

Over the previous ten years, Improve America has remodeled two three-quarter baths with major shower/plumbing difficulties and the master bath had a major reconstruction. (The total expenditure of the three baths was approximately $30,000.) The consistency of subcontracting with workmen who demonstrated excellent craftsmanship in their particular area laid the base for our selecting Improve America for our major house renovation.

A few subcontractors, who had previously had worked on our baths, were employed to work on the large renovation. They invited other workers and subcontractors who were new to our home to see our master bath. These workers were very proud to share the finished product with their fellow construction friends.

To remodel our forty plus year-old home, we have sacrificially saved over the years so we would not place ourselves in debt. Therefore, procuring a contractor to take our ideas and assisting us to make the best use of our resources in making those ideas become our reality takes a lot of trust. Trust takes time. With each project that we have enlisted Improve America to partner with us, the experience has deepened the layers of trust that we feel that we can recommend them to anyone.

Once we have the finances in place, there is one more project; which includes replacing the subflooring to add hardwood in two bedrooms and two closet/storage reconfigurations in those rooms. Hopefully, in the next year, we will once again be calling upon the services of Improve America.

"Our problem was that our 500 sqft crawl space would collect water after heavy rains. The insulation was sagging and mold was developing on the wood. I contacted AFS and another company to compare bids. I chose AFS over the competitor for two reasons. 1. The sales rep Austin (with AFS), actually crawled through the entire crawl space and took pictures. The competitor did not. Austin then went through the pictures and discussed the problems we were having and suggested we add a drainage system and encapsulate the area. I told Austin that I was looking at another company to compare work and bids and would let him know by the end of the week. There was absolutely no sales pressure. Austin told me he understood and to take my time. The other company said it would be a 3-4 day job and Austin said it would be a 2 day job. 2. Both companies said they would deal with the mold. The other company would use some sort of gas to kill the mold. AFS said they use baking soda to actually blast away the mold off the wood, and then spray it with an environmentally safe solution to keep the mold from returning. Both companies would add a dehumidifier. The pricing for both companies was comparable. Primarily for the reasons above, I chose to go with AFS as I felt their presentation was much better and I liked their approach to deal with the mold. I did tell Austin that I was very skeptical because of how low the crawl space was. He assured me theyà ¢à à ve worked in smaller spaces but I was still skeptical. I emailed Austin a couple of times with some questions and he was always quick to reply with answers and even sent me the pictures he had taken when I asked for copies. As to job performance, Adam, LaMarcus, KeAndre, and Zach did an excellent job both days. Adam called me each day to let me know they were on the way and they always on time. The team was very professional and courteous. Each day they made sure the work area was cleaned up. In talking with a couple of the guys I learned that they have actually worked in spaces tighter than mine which helped alleviate my skepticism. The team was very friendly and freely answered any questions I had about what they were doing. They stayed focused on the job and had completed the entire work by 2pm the second day. I crawled in the space to inspect the work and found a clean crawl space encapsulated just as Austin had described in his presentation. Adam said when he turned on the dehumidifier it read approx. 85%. By the time I left the crawl space it was down to approx. 77%. We also tested the sump pump. Needless to say, Ià ¢à à m no longer skeptical. Everything I was told would be done was completed. I rarely write reviews but AFS deserves this one."

It took a while. They are a family company now run by the daughter. We have used them for 30 years. They give us honest opinions. If they don't think what we want they will tell us and work with us to make it right.

"Handywork Group was contacted to do complete interior painting and some carpentry work, their estimate was very professional and spelled out exactly what they would do with a reasonable price. They came daily worked and cleaned up every night ,the job was done on time and at the quoted price. I couldn’t be happier with their work."

Qualified, licensed electricians will charge from $50 to $100 per hour. The cost to hire an electrician for emergency visits may range from $100 to $200 per hour because this urgent service usually takes place during off hours and may require an electrician to leave or reschedule jobs they’re currently working on. Scheduling work on holidays or during periods of high customer demand, like after a major storm, will also lead to higher rates or extra fees.
