"Jeff told me the foundation settling was very minor for a house built in the 1970's.  No water problems in basement.  He did recommend I have the gutters replaced, with 6" gutters, and to make sure water is draining away from house.  Also, he asked me to contact him if the foundation settled more in the future.  He did not do any work other than give me a free evaluation.  Jeff was very professional and honest. I will definitely use his company if I have anymore foundation or drainage issues.

"I purchased a Big Deal from R&R Power Washing, Painting & More, but they had to send out a subcontractor to do the work, because they were too busy to do it all. The subcontractor was fair. They were very nice, professional and knowledgeable, when I talked to them on the phone."

"Note 1: I sourced the Ipe' wood for the decking & railings plus the powder coated aluminum railing systems used. Those costs not included here since I paid them directly. Note 2: Some of the below paragraphs are out of sequence; I tried to edit them to get the correct sequence, but the AL web site wouldn't let me do that. Brad Horner was excellent from start to finish. This project involved a lot of collaboration between Brad and myself. I liked that he had experience working with hardwoods such as Ipe' & Cumaru. I also liked that he could product CAD drawings and a detailed materials list that I could then send to various Ipe' vendors so that they could provide detailed quotes. Brad was patient with my involvement in both the design & construction. His communication was always prompt. His progress billings were sufficiently detailed and the overall project came in on budget. Brad and his two person crew were available to unload and property stack the Ipe' lumber when it was delivered to our home. Ipe' is quite heavy and proper stacking was critical to allow the wood to acclimate to local conditions and to minimize the risk of cupping while it was stacked and awaiting installation. Craftsmanship was excellent throughout. Brad understood from early in the process that the goal was to build a deck that would last. Consequently overbuilding was used throughout the project and I appreciated that we aligned easily with each other to accomplish that end. Some crew changes were necessary mid project, but each crew member did a fine job and we were comfortable with Brad's supervision all along the way.
It is great to find a true & honest craftsman like Brad Horner. If you choose him for your project you will be pleased with both the process and the outcome.
Each day ended with the work area cleaned up and safe. Brad took necessary precautions to protect both the materials and exposure areas of our house from inclement weather so despite some really lousy weather along the way the project was not damaged at all."

"Once I sent her all the measurements, it took her a little while to get the options back to me.  Overall, they're good designs.  However, they're very simplistic and give general ideas for space planning.  I was hoping to have a better idea for sizes of furniture for the space and some variations on staging.
Jill was very responsive when I did have a question.  I'm not sure how helpful it is to have a virtual design done.  If we lived in similar cities, I'd probably use her again for help with additional designs.

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

Typically, general remodeling involves architects, contractors, interior designers, electricians, plumbers, and sometimes structural engineers. Each plays a role in bringing the project from concept to completion.

The process involves initial consultation, concept development, detailed planning, regulatory approvals, and integration of contractor work for project execution.

Mid-century modern architecture was a popular home style throughout the U.S. from the 1950s to 1970s. Most homes feature a wide and symmetrical floor plan with low-sloped roofs and floor-to-ceiling windows. Its minimalism and balanced appearance are back on the home style scene, particularly when maximizing sunlight, airflow, and a blend with the home's natural surroundings.

Custom homes can take an average of 18 months to build, mainly due to the lengthy design process, and most projects take somewhere between 12 and 24 months. When you work with the right custom home builders near you, they can help you map the road ahead and understand what can speed up or delay the timeline. Choosing locally available materials, for example, can speed things up without losing that customized touch.

Most towns and cities have regulations regarding sign dimensions for businesses. If you're opening a new business, contact the town or city's local zoning board to see the specifications you need to follow when getting your sign created. There may also be rules regarding how high your sign can sit. Be sure to learn about specifications before having your sign made. Sign companies generally won't offer refunds once custom signs have been fabricated.
