"Kevin and his crew showed up on time and solved all my issues with plumbing for a 28 year old condo. He removed and installed a new 40 gal. hot water heater, fixed a drippy faucet, and installed and removed a new bathroom sink. Service was excellent. On time and great for my pocket book. Excellent job and will recommend to all of my friends and co-workers. Awesome!"

"Two guys showed up, and got everything done. They took the time to explain some other issues I may experience, and suggested the repairs for those issues. I will be having them back to do some more clean-up and correction work on 40 year old plumbing."

"Joey came out to look at our old leaky toilet for my grandmothers house. He recommended to replace the toilet which we are very happy with. He inspected the plumbing in the basement also to make sure it was just the toilet and not any other pipes. Would highly recommend them and will use them again in the future."

"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Lifesaver and a True Professional – Mark is the Only Plumber We’ll Ever Call We can’t say enough great things about Prodigy plumbing and the incredible owner, Mark. Right after moving into our very first home, we faced a massive plumbing emergency that left us overwhelmed and panicked. Another company quoted us over $18,000—something that felt impossible for us to handle, especially during such a stressful time. That’s when Mark came along & saved our lives. Not only did he show up quickly and assess the situation with honesty and care, but he went above and beyond to help us out of the goodness of his heart. He was personable, professional, and most importantly, trustworthy. You could feel that he genuinely cared about helping us, not just making a profit. Mark did the work efficiently, thoroughly, and at a fraction of the price we were originally quoted. Thanks to him, our home is now safe and functioning properly, and we’ll never use anyone else for plumbing again."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Outdoor plumbing issues are no less serious or urgent to fix than interior plumbing problems. These problems may require excavation and lawn repair due to the plumbing often being buried underground. The most common outside plumbing problems include:

  • Clogged landscape drainage: $200–$1,000

  • Clogged sewer lines: $60–$250 per linear foot

  • Corroded or rusted pipes: $1,500–$15,000+

  • Leaking drain lines: $200–$1,000

  • Leaking water mains: $300–$4,000+

  • Septic system failure: $600–$3,000+

  • Tree roots in pipes: $200–$1,000

  • Well pump failure: $350–$1,500

Homeowners insurance usually doesn’t cover sewer backups because it’s typically an avoidable problem with proper maintenance. The only exception would be if the backup is occurring because of local flooding and only if your city uses a combined drainage system for stormwater and sewage. If that’s the case, your policy should cover any resulting damage.

You should not attempt to snake your sewer yourself. Accessing and snaking your sewer requires heavy-duty equipment, and while renting is possible, misusing it can damage your sewer main and leave you with very expensive repair costs, not to mention potential environmental issues and severe water damage. Accessing your sewer also exposes you to hazardous sewer gasses, and failing to seal the sewer properly after work can be very dangerous. It’s always best to hire a professional sewer cleaner near you to handle this type of work.

You should hire a sewer service professional to unclog a main sewer line with tree roots. Tree roots can grow into the main sewer line, and this problem requires a specialized hydro jet, or rooter, that is powerful enough to clear the roots. The tree can also damage the main sewer line, and a professional will need to make repairs or replace the damaged sections. Sewer line replacement costs about $60 to $250 per linear foot.

Thankfully, it’s pretty rare to find a rat in your toilet. It’s more likely in larger cities with big sewer systems that can be feeding grounds for rats, but even then, you still shouldn’t fret.

“I wouldn’t worry too much about rats coming up through the sewers,” Bradshaw says. “I’d say only one out of a thousand rodent customers we get actually have this problem. And of the 20 or some customers that have had this happen, they’ve all only had just one rat come up this way.”
