"We had been searching for some time for replacement entry doors for our home. The existing doors were not a standard size. Covenant Construction was recommended by a provider we had used in the past who suggested that Ronnie Forrester at Covenant might be able to adjust the framing to accept a standard size set of doors. Problem solved! We placed an order online for exactly the doors we wanted and scheduled our appointment with Covenant to coincide with the delivery to store date. Ronnie Forrester of Covenant picked up the doors, delivered and installed the same day. The result was excellent, greatly improved the appearance of our entry and the price was extremely reasonable. Mr. Forrester and his father worked together on the project and were both very skilled as well as pleasant and courteous. Great experience, start to finish.

"Kerry Dixon did an outstanding job building out a room addition for us upstairs. This was an unused attic space that we turned into a craft room/office for my wife. Kerry added an egress and built a dormer coming out of the garage roof that looks like it was part of the original house. He listed to what we wanted which was to have the addition to look like the rest of the house including rounded corners. I would definitely recommend Kerry Dixon."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Framing with metal studs can be significantly faster than using wooden studs, provided you have some experience working with the material. While you can use virtually instant pneumatic nailers with wood, metal requires installing screws. However, because metal is lighter, straighter, usually comes cut-to-length, and doesn't require sorting for the best pieces, you can save significant time using metal instead of wood.

Yes, you will need a jack for a rim joist replacement. To prevent sagging and facilitate the removal of load-bearing wood, you’ll need to relieve the pressure from this joint before beginning work.

Due to hydraulics and other specialized equipment, a sill plate and rim joist replacement are not typically a DIY project. Hiring a professional structural engineer and experienced contractors is the best approach to replacing rotted sill plates and rim joists.

Carpenters are trained to take on a wide range of home projects. You can hire a carpenter to do framing, roofing, build custom furniture, and make significant upgrades to your home. General carpenters are usually able to handle most jobs. However, you may also choose to hire a carpenter who specializes in a specific type of carpentry.

Yes, a one-story house can have a load-bearing wall. The load-bearing walls in a single-story home are usually the exterior walls. If the house has a basement with exposed walls, the arrangement of the beams can help indicate what walls are load-bearing.

Proper Murphy bed installation minimizes the risk of wall damage. A secure attachment requires making some holes for anchors or brackets, but these can be easily patched if the bed is removed. To ensure the installation is done correctly and safely, hiring a professional is recommended, especially if you have limited DIY experience.
