"Lee and his employee were great. Lee was very responsive in his communications, scheduling, and pricing. They did a great job painting and were very careful with preparation and cleanup. I would recommend him very highly. If /when I need painting again, Lee will be the first number I dial!!"

"Michael was prompt and knowledgeable about the exterior painting project. Even though there was a glitch in equipment he had an alternate plan and finished when he predicted and cleaned up the work area. Priced reasonably . I would highly recommend him. In the future I would hire him again if the need arises."

"I felt this owner and staff were very professional, friendly, and did quality work. I have vaulted ceilings in the living room area of my condo and especially appreciate how well this area was done. Accent walls look great and my kitchen looks so much brighter. I was surprised at the pricey cost (which was thoroughly discussed and agreed upon beforehand). But, this is the first time I had others do painting since I am now disabled. I would definitely hire them again."

"Ewalt Construction came to my project and gave me a quote in a timely manner. When the materials came in they came and did an excellent job. They made sure to go over all of the locations of the downspouts. They cleaned up afterwards and the job looked terrific. Thanks Tom & Candie for another great job done."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

Scrape softened caulk with a putty knife or slice hardened caulk with a utility knife. Hard-to-remove caulk generally requires more time exposed to a softening solution, like a commercial product or rubbing alcohol. A few hours to a day later, the softened caulk will come off with the help of common household tools. In many cases, you can grab needle-nosed pliers for caulk with multiple old layers and pull the material off its base.

You do not have to remove lead paint if the surface is not chipping or peeling or if there are no pregnant people or children under the age of six who live in or regularly visit your home. Lead paint is a particular risk for young children whose brains and bodies are not fully developed. Experts strongly recommend that you call a pro to remove lead paint if it’s peeling or flaking, no matter who lives in the home. You can experience lead poisoning by breathing in or ingesting just a small amount of it.

You can paint over lead paint, or “encapsulate” it with a special paint that includes an ingredient called an encapsulant. The EPA approves encapsulation as a lead paint removal method as long as the paint remains undisturbed. Standard types of paint without an “encapsulant” from the big box stores or hardware stores do not meet EPA standards for remediation of lead-based paint.

Some methods of removing paint from metal that use physical force, like scraping or grinding, may damage the metal. Other methods like chemical strippers or acids are unlikely to damage the metal underneath, but take care using any method to strip paint to minimize the chance of damage.

You don’t necessarily have to remove all the old paint before repainting your deck, but it’s best to remove as much as possible to ensure a smooth and long-lasting finish. Prioritize scraping off loose, peeling, or flaking paint, and sand down rough areas to create a smooth surface for the new paint to bond with.
