"First of all, Clint at Fence Busters is a great guy and hard worker! We have been on a year long horrible journey with 2 other fence companies. We were burned by both of them and finally found Fence Busters and could not be more pleased! We wanted a black metal fence and there aren't many companies in town that seem to know what they are doing. Clint has decades of experience and recently brought his expertise back to Rapid City. He is honest, shows up right in the morning to get the job done and takes pride in his work. I would hire him over anyone else in the black hills!"

"Ryland was exceptional! Looking at my new deck, automatically brings a big smile to my face! I am so pleased with the work and the fact he got it done before my visitors arrived. I won’t know the full impact until the weather gets cold, but the ramp is heated, so if all goes as planned, I won’t sustain another broken bone! I highly recommend Ryland to anyone needing good quality wirk."

Small jobs welcome

"I was so lucky to find Jordan and Don from Cascade Construction! My husband and I were desperate to have some privacy in our backyard. We were constantly being harrassed by 2 barking dogs that peered behind this old missing slatted chain link fence in our backyard. Jordan came up with this amazing idea of attaching redwood beams and a cedar fence onto our retaining wall. The fence came out so beautiful! He even fixed my other broken fence and added in a couple of fence lights to give the new fence a nice touch! Jordan and Don went above and beyond all of our expectations! Not only that, Jordan bid us a fair price range, made it esthetically pleasing and added in his own person touches to the fence project. The pride in their work showed! I would definitely recommend Cascade Construction for any of your fencing needs. You will not be disappointed!!:)"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

If you’re trying to keep your dog from running away, an electric fence isn’t the only fence type for your yard worth considering. The cost of dog fences can range from $1,500 to $8,000, with popular materials including wood, vinyl, or aluminum to keep your pet safe and sound.

If you’re trying to keep livestock in their pasture, other fencing options include woven wire, high-tensile wire, and synthetic fencing. These options give your animals boundaries without the use of electricity.

The maximum recommended slope on which you can build a racked or stepped fence is 45 degrees. After that, construction becomes quite tricky and may require the use of retaining walls or terraces to make the fenced area flatter.

You can use soil and gravel instead of concrete when setting fence posts. However, concrete is more durable and longer lasting, so it's worth considering if you want your fence to withstand the test of time. You should especially consider concrete if you live in a region that experiences severe weather, which can damage your fence.

A chain link fence typically lasts between 15 and 20 years, but with proper maintenance, it can last for 30 years or more. To preserve the fence, it's important to keep the mesh wire tight, which can be done with a come-along tool every 6 to 12 months. Investing in a fence with a galvanized, powder-coated, or vinyl-coated finish can increase its lifespan to 20 to 30 years and reduce maintenance needs, as these coatings provide extra protection against the elements.

In most states, it is a legal requirement to have a fence around your pool to protect both swimmers and pool owners. These laws can vary by state, city, and county, so you must research the specific regulations in your area before installation. The rules may also differ for inground versus above-ground pools, with inground pools typically requiring a full fence. Additionally, most homeowners' insurance providers will require a fence around a residential pool before providing coverage. As a general rule, it's always best to have a fence for everyone's safety.
