"Both my bathrooms clogged overnight, and the emergency plumber I called came out and quoted me nearly $800 to dig up my septic tank lid and clear the main drain line. I said no thanks. Contacted Lowery Brothers for a quote the next morning, and got a response in less than 10 minutes saying they'd be able to be there that evening. They contacted me later in the day confirming they would be there when they said, and they arrived right on schedule (and wearing masks, which was appreciated). They ended up pulling off one toilet and snaking the drain, clearing the clog, then reseating the toilet, which had a leak at the base. Their price was less than half of the other quote, and they were professional, friendly, and fast. I am going to be calling these guys for all plumbing services I'll need in the future, and will be recommending them as well."

Gas Leak Repair questions, answered by experts

Oil furnaces don’t emit poisonous or highly flammable gases, making them less dangerous in your home than gas furnaces because they have a much lower chance of combusting. An oil furnace does pose the risk of causing a fire if it tips over, but it is generally considered safer compared to a gas furnace.

A few factors determine the amount of time it takes to convert from an oil to a gas furnace, mainly adding in the gas lines, updating your appliances, removing the old oil system, and installing a chimney line. These projects can vary, but you should expect them to take at least two or three days to complete.

Only yellow Teflon tape is approved for use on gas lines. Also called yellow PTFE tape, it is thicker and specifically rated for use on natural gas and propane connections. Standard white Teflon tape is not safe for gas applications. If you have questions about sealing gas line connections, contact a pro like a gas line contractor or plumber who installs or runs gas lines.

Natural gas companies advise only shutting off the gas supply at the meter yourself if you smell natural gas or suspect there is a leak, typically following an emergency. Instead, you can shut off gas to individual appliances when necessary. If you want to turn off your natural gas entirely, you should contact your utility company. You’ll generally also need to acquire a permit to work on your natural gas line.

Shut-off valves, like any other piece of metal hardware, can corrode, age, get worn down, and eventually break or rust into place. Occasionally spray your shut-off valve with WD-40 to stall it from rusting. If it really gets stuck, a wrench and WD-40 will usually do the trick, but you will need to call a plumber if it’s completely unmovable.
