"I needed to add a bathroom and utility area, but did not want to increase a footprint of the house and decided to incorporate my carport into a living area. It allowed me to save on roofing and foundation, but created certain logistical difficulties in the project. Mike and his crew have creatively addressed all the issues which allowed me to maximize the living area while still being compliant with all the building codes. Work on the project was well planned and performed according to the schedule. In fact it took longer to wait for building permit from the county than the project itself. I also wanted to point out that Mike possesses a rare quality for contractor, he is very punctual and responsive. He had returned all my calls/e-mails within a day and had addressed all my concerns or requests in a timely manner. It was a pleasure to work with Mike and his crew and I would hire them for my next project without hesitation."
"My guy Logan is the jack of all trades. I’m doing a 800sq ft. Apartment above my house. I hired him to do drywall and finishing. He did an amazing job. Everything is nice and flush. He came back and did touch ups no questions asked. Not only did he do an outstanding job. He went above and beyond and helped me With other stuff I didn’t even hire him to do. Like sub flooring. Building my attic. I blew a switch upstairs was really bummed about it and he even fixed that ! He’s really good at what he does. Highly recommended!"

"Our experience with King Construction, LLC, was excellent in all regards. Mr. King returned our initial phone call within a matter of hours. He and his masonry supervisor met with us the next day. They gave us a cogent and credible worst-case scenario for what structural problems we would find and how they would proceed to repair it. They provided a detailed work scope and estimate within two days (including having backtracked to find the original brick supplier and confirm availability of materials). Their estimate was not the lowest, but it was the most credible and offered a maximum worst-case limit. We accepted the estimate. Work was started on time and was completed on schedule. The work crew was on time every scheduled work day, worked extremely hard and effectively, and were very careful about not damaging brickwork that was not in scope and general care in maintaining cleanliness of the work site. The masonry supervisor visited the work site daily and Mr. King visited very frequently. When we requested a last minute change to the brick landing pattern, agreement was reached within and hour, the plan was modified and work proceeded in a timely manner with no additional change cost. We highly recommend King Construction, LLC, for major construction projects ? from repairs and renovations to original home construction. We were extremely pleased with the entire project and association with the team. "Mike arrive on time and was very professional. He started immediately with the house by applying cleaning chemical. He took his time and made sure every area was clean before moving on. He let water dry on house and then walked around house to make sure he did not miss anything. House and porches took about 2 hours. Mike then did detached garage the same way. The concrete driveway had not been pressured washed in 15 years and he made it look almost brand new. He was polite and if we need anything extra done he did it without question. We have already booked him to redo our deck, repair vinyl siding and fix a couple more shingles on our roof. "

Any type of construction that damages a tree’s roots via soil compaction can be dangerous, and is one of the primary causes of mature tree death in residential areas. Simply putting lots of weight on the ground around the tree, like construction supplies, trailers, and equipment, can kill roots near the surface. Of course, installing new foundations, patios, or utility lines can cut through nearby tree roots. Accidentally striking a tree with equipment or supplies is rarely a problem, but can cause damage of its own, too.
Concrete blocks are the cheapest way to base a shed. However, the space in between allows critters to go under, burrow, and even damage your shed’s frame. For a more pest-proof option, consider building a shed base with gravel or paver stones. Both options are fairly affordable and easy enough for a DIY project. For gravel, you can build a wooden frame to contain the loose material.
While sheds are most certainly helpful for most homeowners, unfortunately, sheds do not add value to a home or property in the traditional sense. However, if the home has limited storage or garage space, having a shed to store things like decorations or lawn equipment can certainly be a positive if you want to sell.
Common pitfalls include underestimating the cost of site preparation, overlooking permit and utility fees, and not setting aside funds for unexpected changes. Change orders during construction can disrupt your budget. It’s best to plan a detailed budget, obtain multiple quotes, and include a 10% to 15% contingency fund for unexpected expenses.
While building a treehouse isn’t necessarily a death sentence, damaging the trunk is one of the ways to kill a tree. If you’re concerned about the tree, opt for a treehouse support system rather than attaching it directly to the trunk. This may involve using bolts and brackets to affix the structure to the tree's branches or establishing a standalone support system that remains unattached to the tree.
