"Professional quality customer oriented company! All asbestos was removed in a professional and safe manner. It was obvious they are highly experienced in this field. All work was completed in a timely manner and the work area was left clean. The fee was in line with other companies and lower than others. Communication with the principals was excellent. I highly recommend them!"

"Jim came and inspected the areas for removal and what I felt was a very fair estimate. His team was able to start within the week, arrived on time and when I asked questions about their safety precautions they were happy to share the details with me. There was a little more insulation in the crawl space than they originally saw but they honored the estimate. He asked in advance if I wanted air quality testing after the removal and we said yes. They had a licensed third party perform the testing on the day of the work and let me know it was clean; I also spoke to the air quality tester. Shortly thereafter they provided electronic and hard copies of a letter from the tester and the detailed report. Thank you!"

"The serviceman went over in details what he needed to do to test to see how much mold I might have. He took samples and had the air quality tested. I do have some mold but not at a level that would cause harm. My area of concern is very dry and I purchased a unit from him that would further help r***** the growth of the mold. I plan to have this mold removed in the near future. He said that was good since the mold level was not harmful at its current state. The visit went well."

"It went GREAT!!! The technician was very professional yet personable. He had quite a bit of difficulty getting the old faucet off as it had rusted but he successfully removed it and replaced it with a Delta. He cleaned up everything and left it better than he found it. McCoy Plumbing are my plumbers as they are honest and their prices are reasonable."

"My initial contact, David, with the company was great. When I got handed off to the local company that would be taking care of the paperwork and scheduling several things got lost in translation and my project was delayed from the original promised date of completion. I spoke with my original contact and everything was back on track. The third group of people, the ones that showed up at my house, were also great. This was a tiring process but finding asbestos in your house is not easy either way. I would use this company again if I needed it."

Small jobs welcome

"Superior Abatement answered my call for a kitchen demolition where asbestos was involved. These guys answered quickly and showed up promptly for the assessment. (Not what happened with three other companies) They made a bid on the work that made my day! Then their work was superior. What a nice group of gentlemen. Very polite, very efficient. Sealed the work completely so that I could not smell the mold treatment and sealer even in the next room. I hope to hire them again when the next demolition job is ready to roll."

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

In the 1980s, the use of asbestos in house siding materials underwent a significant decline, ultimately being phased out by the mid-1980s to early 1990s. This change was largely due to a growing awareness of the severe health risks associated with asbestos exposure, particularly its link to lung diseases and cancers. With increased public concern and regulatory agency involvement, building codes and regulations were updated to restrict the use of asbestos in construction materials.

If you suspect exposure to asbestos, prioritize seeking medical advice by informing your healthcare provider about the potential exposure with clear details about the circumstances that led to the exposure. Regular health check-ups and screenings if you work in high-risk industries or live in a home with asbestos are essential for early detection of any asbestos-related conditions. You should also consider consulting occupational health experts or legal professionals for guidance on potential next steps and preventive measures.

Power washing asbestos siding can be hazardous and isn't recommended. The power washer's high pressure can disturb the siding and release harmful asbestos fibers into the air. Rather than attempting to DIY it, hire a professional trained in asbestos handling to tackle any exterior cleaning.

The legality of covering asbestos tile with new flooring can vary by location. In some cities, it is not legal to cover asbestos tile due to the risk of causing fibers to become airborne. While a professional method called encapsulation can seal the asbestos in place, it is not always an appropriate solution. In other areas, covering the tile is a legal and reasonable option to prevent fibers from spreading and reduce health hazards. However, the best long-term solution is to have the asbestos professionally and completely removed from your home.

If the tiles are undamaged and in good condition, painting can be a safe method of encapsulating them, but it is important first to evaluate the state of the tiles before proceeding. If the tiles are deteriorating, damaged, or already loose, simply painting over them fails to address the underlying issues that can cause asbestos exposure. It is recommended to consult asbestos abatement experts in such situations to identify the best way to safely manage or remove the asbestos-containing materials. During the painting process, it is crucial to adhere to safety regulations and guidelines to reduce the potential health risks associated with asbestos exposure.
