"The staff at Brooks Carpet were very helpful and knowledgeable. We selected our carpet from the many options on display in their store. Julia Brooks came out for the measurements and was very professional and friendly. The install crew came out in the morning on the day they were supposed to and were able to finish the install in a single day (they worked very hard all day and were willing to stay late and finish it). There was only one small issue with the placement of a seam in our bedroom and Julia promptly and courteously rescheduled a correction to be made. The crew came out for the correction on the day and time they were supposed to and took care of it within about 2 hours. Overall, we were extremely happy with our experience at Brooks and would highly recommend them for your carpet and flooring needs."

"I will highly recommend Ivan from Manolaki Tile & Stone LLC. He recently transformed my shower with exceptional speed and meticulous attention to detail. The finished product is stunning and exceeds my expectations. Ivan's expertise was invaluable. He patiently guided me through shower design options, tile selection based on durability and aesthetics, and ensured the overall functionality met my needs. His extensive experience was evident in his insightful suggestions. The use of top-of-the-line professional tools guaranteed a flawless finish. In fact, several tile experts who visited my place remarked on Ivan's masterful craftsmanship, saying, 'He knows what he do!'" Communication with Ivan was a breeze. He was incredibly responsive, always available to answer my questions or offer suggestions, even with my frequent ideas. His pricing was competitive, and he remained flexible throughout the project as we made adjustments. Ivan consistently provided fair quotes for the additional labor required. A friend who had a fantastic experience with Manolaki Tile & Stone connected me with Ivan. I'm incredibly grateful for the recommendation and wouldn't hesitate to use their services again for future projects. In fact, I'll be recommending them to anyone looking for a top-notch tile and stone contractor. Here's what truly sets Ivan apart: his exceptional skills, clear communication, and commitment to exceeding client expectations."

"Willy's Tile. He did tiles and i asked if he could replace toilets, which was cheaper that hiring a plumber and they came and did the work. The only problem was that they ended up breaking a pipe and said they probably should have held some part when they undid it. Water covered the entire hallway downstairs, but they finally got it cleaned up but was pretty disappointing that it happened. Willy is professional and i would consider hiring him for tiles. The upstairs toilet they replaced is still leaking and it's probably not there fault. I hired a plumber who said the problem was with the toilet itself. They got it done in four hours and it created a big mess with the water."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Generally speaking, it is better to cut tile wet when using a fast-moving wet saw to reduce dust and chipping. However, tile can be cut dry when using just about any cutting tool. Dry cutting will result in a bigger mess and may increase the risk of chipping or cracking, but if you’re just making small cuts, dry cutting is a safe and viable option. Cutting dry also means you can apply tile grout sooner, so it’s better for rushed projects.

Installing kitchen countertop tiles on a mold and moisture-resistant cement backer board is one of the best options. When fitted correctly on top of a plywood base, it’s stable and long-lasting. Old-fashioned cement board is economical, cuts neatly and easily with a circular or jigsaw, and screws into plywood without any difficulty.

Yes, you can tile a shower as a DIY project, and you can save hundreds of dollars in labor costs by doing so. However, you’ll need to rent or buy quite a few tools and supplies for the job, including a saw, tile nippers, and a new shower pan. In terms of the work itself, you should be prepared to tackle a variety of different tasks, including measuring and ordering materials, removing old tile, waterproofing the wall, adding rows of tile, grouting, and more.

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.

In some cases, granite tiles can be installed over existing flooring if the surface is level, stable, and free of moisture issues. However, removing old flooring is often recommended to ensure a secure and long-lasting installation, as well as to avoid height differences at thresholds. Consult with your flooring pro to determine the best approach based on your specific situation.
