"Dillon has quite a gift for this. His floors are AWESOME! He was able to find a stain that blended our oak and pine together yet brilliantly displayed beautiful wood grain for the first time since we have owned the house. We are THRILLED with our floors! If you have a similar project, I would STRONGLY recommend hiring Dillon Wood."

"Amy did a great job on my rental home.  The tenants(3 years) had left the home very dirty and Simply Clean went to work doing an excellent job.  The oven and stove top were very dirty and cleaned like new.  The tub/shower units where very dirty and they spent an hour on each getting it clean.  Was on time and stuck with her quote even though it was likely worse than she anticipated.  Also very honest, they immediately sent me a photo ( from out of town) of a blind that broke while trying to get it clean. Overall I am very pleased with the work they did.

"Great services at a very reasonable price. They cleaned for an entire day on a home we just rented. It was very dirty and other cleaners had claimed not to be able to get certain items cleaned. Gold Girls got everything cleaned left by others. I hired them for biweekly cleaning and very pleased."

Floor Polishers questions, answered by experts

Both buffing and polishing increase the longevity of your floors by removing scratches and buildup, but they are different processes. Polishing removes the top layer of your floor, removing surface-level scuffs and scratches. Buffing your floor involves filling the scratches and scuffs with a buffing solution. No matter which method you choose, you can rest assured that both techniques will leave your floor looking shiny and new.

Baking soda is an excellent choice for a natural dog urine neutralizer. You can sprinkle it on a stain, leave it overnight, and then vacuum it in the morning to help rid your hardwoods of the dog urine smell. Hydrogen peroxide is another odor neutralizer, but be careful not to mix it with other household cleaners.

Floor polishing isn’t technically necessary, but it will help your floors last longer and hold up better to scratches. Floor polish is a thin coating that fills in small abrasions on your floor and makes them less visible, and it can act as a protective covering that prevents future damage to the floor underneath. Floor polish helps protect against water and moisture, so it’s a great service if you want to extend the lifespan of your floors. Additionally, polish makes your floors shine, making your home look cleaner and more inviting.

Before starting on a full refinishing project, determine if your floors need to be completely sanded down to the bare wood or if the damage is shallow and mostly cosmetic. Deep scratches and gouges will require you to rough sand using a drum sander or belt sander, but small surface scratches or floors that have only lost their luster don’t need a complete overhaul. Instead, you can skip the rough sanding step and sand-screen the old finish with a buffer, removing only the top layer of polyurethane.

The cost to polish floors averages around $200 per room, but you could pay anywhere from $100 to $300. Some factors that influence the total cost of floor polishing include the following:

  • Square footage of flooring

  • Type of floor

  • Whether you need floor repairs done beforehand

  • Whether or not you want professional floor cleaning done beforehand

Since square footage is the most significant cost factor, you might get a more accurate estimate by using the average cost per square foot for floor polishing, which is between $1.00 and $2.50.
