"Polite contractor who responded to the request on Angi quickly; covered the hardware on the fence; cleaned up afterwards. I did see a tiny bit of overspray in one spot on my vinyl siding even though they used heavy paper to shield. It was a bit windy. However, a Mr Clean Magic Eraser took it right off with one wipe."

"The owner Mathew was on the job site every day. He and his crew were courteous, professional, and very skilled. The job was exterior power wash, sand and paint wood. House is 3 story with approximately 2800 sq ft., and not an easy task. If you need this type of work done, call Mathew and you will be completely satisfied."

Yes, you can apply new plaster over an existing plaster surface, such as a wall or ceiling, provided the old plaster is in good condition. Before you begin, check the stability of the existing plaster. The surface must be clean, free of loose material, and have no peeling paint. It is also recommended to roughen the surface slightly to promote adhesion. For older plaster, applying a base coat like a PVA emulsion or a specific bonding agent or primer is crucial. Certain drywall textures, like sand and sometimes popcorn, can be smoothed by applying skim coats, sanding the walls, or chipping away the texture. Smoothing textured walls requires a lot of sandpaper and elbow grease and can take longer than just outright removing the texture.

It’s not a good idea to plaster over broken plaster (unless by broken you’re referring to cracked, in which case that’s perfectly fine). However, broken plaster can be a sign of a larger underlying issue like foundation damage or severe damage to the lath holding up the plaster, so it’s worth investigating before you simply plaster on top of the damage.

Drywall anchors won’t work on plaster. Instead, they will more than likely cause more damage and pull out the plaster. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle piece can fall into the wall cavity when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged during removal, for instance by having its head cut off, it cannot be reused regardless of the material.
