"Russell went above and beyond cleaning up my backyard. He went the extra mile on the front lawn as he saw fit. Also, he added some pine straw to certain areas making the overall yard look great. I appreciated the hard work. I also requested a quote for a new fence installation at a new home. He took my needs/wants and was able to explain to me what needed to be done and for a fair price."

"It went amazingly well. The proprietor, James Corder, had come over to my c. 1929 house one afternoon to continue negotiations on a large renovation project. In the course of inspecting rot in the sill and floor joists of one room, he noticed the start of buckling in a wall that was also supporting a second-floor wall. Without hesitation, and without any assurance that the larger job would be his, James leapt into action. On the spot, he came up with a design for emergency bracing and worked up a bill of materials. We got the materials from Lowes and worked together to erect the structure pictured here, which I believe might very well have saved my house. We finished about 9:00 p.m. James is extraordinary in his skill, his brains, his physical strength, and his willingness to do what needs to be done. And he got the big job."

Animal Fencing questions, answered by experts

Groundhogs are non-aggressive animals that are afraid of humans. They forage for vegetation in yards and gardens, so they can often be seen as a nuisance if you spot one on your property. That said, if you happen to get bitten or scratched by a fearful groundhog, be sure to get checked by a doctor, as they could carry infections or diseases like rabies, Lyme, or the rare tularemia.

While some pets, especially dogs, may chase rabbits away due to their natural hunting instincts, relying solely on pets to deter rabbits is not foolproof. Some rabbits can become accustomed to the presence of pets over time, and not all pets possess the same level of hunting inclination. What’s more, rabbits can potentially carry serious diseases like Tularemia and E. cuniculi, which they could pass to your pets.

If you’ve spotted a skunk or know that one of these furry creatures sprayed one of your family members, your answer is fairly obvious. However, a skunky smell in your house that isn’t coming from these critters may be a sign of a dangerous gas leak. If you suspect this, leave your home immediately and call emergency services. It could also be a build-up of dangerous gas in your home’s septic system or plumbing. Call a professional plumber near you to make an assessment.

Scented mouse deterrents, like peppermint oil, can be effective in the short term. The pungent smells may temporarily repel mice, but they lose effectiveness as the scent fades or mice get used to it. The main drawbacks are frequent reapplication and the fact that these deterrents don't address the root cause of the infestation, such as entry points or food sources. While they can be part of a broader strategy, scented deterrents alone are rarely enough to eliminate a mouse problem.

Rabbits face a range of formidable adversaries in rural and suburban areas. Natural predators such as hawks, foxes, bobcats, raccoons, coyotes, and weasels pose significant threats to their survival. These skilled hunters target bunnies for food, contributing to regulating rabbit populations. Outdoor housepets can be enemies, too, particularly dogs and cats. And loud little humans playing in your yard make great rabbit deterrents, too.
