"On 6/1/2022 a technician shows up for a water leak under my home, the tech was friendly, on time, and professional, in appearance. I point out where the leak is, after 30 minutes he says the main pipe is probably plugged which created additional weight, possibly stretching supports and as a result the shower drain pipe had been disconnected. He said he would write up a quote, and I was shocked to find it was for 10k. I refused service but asked for a detailed write up for what needed because I was paying an $89.00 Regular Service Fee (29-89) and another fee, MISC level 1 1 which was $97.00 for god knows what. Here is the write up I received from the technician.(More commentary below) "END TASKS*/ upon arrival customer had leak in crawl space and shower has disconnected the reason this disconnected is due to the weight of the sewer line this line is full of water and when wisher is ran it backs up out of this line causing a leak this line has fallen in ,multiple spots and is sagging in multiple spots this is abs piping. I gave options to repipe both bathrooms and then after run camera to locate septic tank. The reason customer is not backing up into house is because everything comes out this shower drain. I gave customer the options for repipe he did not want to continue with any work there is not a cleanout outside for me to camera this line and cannot locate where line exits home for ability to locate septic tank. Options were provided customer did not want to proceed with any work inspection fee was charged. Repipe and camera locate septic Camera Locate Septic Tank from Clean Out 1x $369.00 2 bath/kitchen/laundry drain only L1 1x $9,552.00 Deposit on Ben Society Agreement 1yr $99.00 Start date: 06/01/2022 Subtotal: $10,020.00 Discount: - $315.00 Tax: TBD $9,705.00 I asked how long this work would take and was told 2-3 days. Simple math tells me I could pay a guy 100$ an hour for 97 hours, or 2 full weeks and then some at that rate. I thought to myself, ok, he does not want to do the work so he priced himself out. I am ok with that, but the business owner should be made aware of what is going on and cut these guys loose because there are plenty of other options out there. I am also shocked at the lack of detail for pricing, for 10k I need know specifically what is being done, on a line by line basis. After all, I paid almost 200 dollars and I would like to think I am owed that much. One last detail, I did call in and spoke to "Angel" who said she would relay my concerns and that someone would be calling me back. I am not holding my breath."

ANOTHER $2000 to replace the main board, plus $900 for surge and it won't even turn on.. .DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE .. "

All too often, the cheapest choice becomes the most expensive choice. Many of our new customers call us to fix the problems caused by hiring the cheap guy the first time around shoddy workmanship, inferior products, unlicensed and uninsured contractors. Over the years, we’ve seen and fixed it all. Ken Flournoy, “The Picky People’s Plumber,” opened Ken’s Plumbing Inc. in 1991 in Greenville, South Carolina. Today, Ken has an expert staff of professional plumbers, who provide services to business owners and homeowners with discriminating tastes. At Ken’s Plumbing, we have your best interest at heart. Our expert technicians care about every detail and provide the highest quality plumbing services 24-7-364, we take Christmas day off. Please give us a call at 864-242-5511 and let us exceed your expectations.

"We had Christian, from Ken's Pluming come out to quote a project for us that involved him going into the attic. Christian damaged our ceiling by putting weight on it and causing a nail-pop in the corner of our guest bedroom. It took us a few days to notice the damage as it happened in the corner of a guest room. We scheduled to have Christian and Craig (Supervisor) come back to view the damage. They had to re-schedule on us and so we moved forward with another contractor completing our project. However, we took a video of the damage from Christian before any work was done by the other contractor so that Christian could not claim it was not him. [*** Link removed ***] When Christian and his supervisor, Craig, came out to look at the damage Christian immediately states he did not even leave the platform, a flat area by the attic door. Then changed his story and said, “I mean, I didn’t go that far over there.” They both noticed we had a new gas line installed, and quickly tried to state that the damage could have been from someone else, fair enough, that’s why we took the video and informed them that we had proof of damage before anyone else was in the attic. Christian flip-flopped and was put on the spot by Craig to either state he did it or did not do it. No strong answer came from him and they both left stating they needed to talk with Ken (Owner) and would get back to us. We were informed today (6/17) after reaching back out for an answer, that they will not be fixing the ceiling as they can not be sure they did it or someone else even after the video evidence so I’m sharing this experience, and the video, as a warning that Ken’s Plumbing doesn’t take responsibility for their tech’s actions."

"I called them b\c my AC quit working. When the tech came out, I was at work so he dealt with my wife. He did not check circuit breakers (that I turned off when unit stopped working), did not go under house to check air handler, wiring, or anything. Walked to outdoor unit, spent less than 5 minutes looking at unit then told my wife it would be $1200 to repair a "broken" fan motor. I called someone else for a second opinion. It was a loose wire and a stuck contactor! There competition came out and fixed for $60!! Seems like the "Davis Difference" between other companies is to replace parts that are fine and overcharge people for them, but don't know how to do basics like CHECK TO SEE IF BREAKER IS ON"

Gas Leak Repair questions, answered by experts

It can cost anywhere from $200 to $5,000 to repair a gas line. The cost may vary depending on where the problem is located. For example, if there’s a small gas leak somewhere that’s easy to access, the cost could be on the lower side. On the other hand, repairing buried lines and lines in other hard-to-reach areas will be more expensive.

Yes, it can be worth installing a gas fireplace, depending on your home heating needs. The cost to install a gas fireplace can be much lower than the cost to install a comparable wood-burning fireplace. The convenience of starting a fire with the flip of a switch and turning it off just as quickly makes a gas fireplace a big time saver over starting and maintaining a wood-fueled fire. A gas fireplace also does not require ash cleanup or frequent chimney cleaning to remove creosote and other buildup that can lead to chimney fires. Gas fireplaces burn and heat much more cleanly than wood fireplaces.

Costs depend on material, labor, gas line setup, and custom design elements.

Oil furnaces don’t emit poisonous or highly flammable gases, making them less dangerous in your home than gas furnaces because they have a much lower chance of combusting. An oil furnace does pose the risk of causing a fire if it tips over, but it is generally considered safer compared to a gas furnace.

Only yellow Teflon tape is approved for use on gas lines. Also called yellow PTFE tape, it is thicker and specifically rated for use on natural gas and propane connections. Standard white Teflon tape is not safe for gas applications. If you have questions about sealing gas line connections, contact a pro like a gas line contractor or plumber who installs or runs gas lines.
