"We hired Green Landscaping Maintenance & Design to re-sod our front yard. Scott was fantastic to work with. He is an excellent communicator and kept us updated every step of the way. He's also an expert at his craft and took the time to help us select the best grass for our situation. His crew was prompt, professional, and meticulous with their work. Scott and his team finished the project up last week, and we are 100% pleased with the outcome. If you value quality, professionalism, and communication then I highly recommend using Green Landscaping. Thank you, Scott and team!"

"Havier and his crew did a remarkable job installing a new sprinkler system. They not only installed the system in one day but I has laid sod ahead of contacting Javier to put in the system. Javier said they would peel back the new sod and hand dig to install the system since the trencher would tear up the sod. Javier was correct everything went back the way it was to start with. You can not tell anything was dug up. Excellent job!!! I would highly recommend Javier Ramos Landscaping LLC for your landscaping needs. They really take pride in their work."

Customers say: Quick response

"Chris called me immediately after I completed the Angi Home Advisor questionnaire. He came to my home the following day, a few minutes before my appointment time. He was well dressed, groomed and very respectful. We went to my backyard and he listened to what my vision was for the artificial turf install. He measured everything and shared some of his ideas, gave me a quote and 1 week later Chris and his team delivered my dream backyard. The expertise and customer service was impeccable. I love my backyard. Thank you Chris and your team."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

You should use mulch because it protects garden soil in a few key ways. This extra layer between the ground and the elements protects against erosion, helps your soil maintain moisture, regulates changes in temperature, adds nutrients as it decomposes, and keeps weeds at bay.

Grass is the most popular and safest option for planting over a septic drain field, but you can also plant small flowering plants and other lightweight plants that don’t have woody or deep roots. Avoid trees and bushes within 10 feet of the field, as the woody roots can crack the perforated pipes. You should also avoid planting vegetable or fruit gardens over your drain field, as a leak from the pipes could contaminate the soil and put anyone who eats the produce at risk.

The average cost for landscaping is around $3,500, but prices can range from as low as $200 for simple DIY projects to $14,000 or more for extensive work. Several factors influence the final price, including your geographic location, yard size, project scope, chosen materials, site preparation, and the type of landscaping involved. Professional landscaper labor costs typically range from $50 to $100 per hour.

For a smaller budget, you can focus on softscaping projects like adding mulch, flowers, and shrubs, which might only cost a few hundred dollars if you do the work yourself. A budget of around $5,000 could cover projects like a simple patio, new plants and tree trimming, or a water feature. More extensive hardscaping projects, such as pergolas, patios, and walkways, can push the budget to $14,000 or more. For example, a flower bed installation averages between $800 and $3,000, while landscape lighting installation can cost from $2,000 to $6,000.

Hedges can be trimmed in many other shapes than the standard square shape. They can be cut into spiral, cone, and sphere shapes. However, cutting and maintaining these types of shapes is much more challenging. There are metal frames that you can purchase to place around the hedge to make it much easier.

There are two main times of year to apply mulch: mid to late spring and late fall. Spreading mulch in mid to late spring helps protect new seedlings as the soil warms up. It's best to wait until temperatures are steady, as mulching too early in the spring can slow down the soil's warming process and hinder plant growth. Fall mulching is also beneficial, as it insulates the soil and helps regulate its temperature when the first frosts arrive.
