"The job was completed quickly and I was given a quote for it before the work was done. Very satisfied with the service and pleased with the final result."
"We chose CrawlSpace Medic based on professionalism, reliability, reasonable cost estimate, and previous reviews on Angie’s List. Each day the crew showed up on time, worked hard all day, and cleaned up at end of each day; were respectful of property, and very professional, and pleasant to work with. They kept us informed of progress, and what was being done each day. During removal of old piping, they found additional damage behind the pipes that was not visible/identified during initial inspection- were very reasonable with determining the additional cost. They replaced damaged sills, old rotted floor joists, installed permanent support girders with masonry piers, installed a 10ml plastic vapor barrier, and installed multiple foundation vents. We are very satisfied with the results. Our floors are no longer bouncy, and floors feel very sturdy- was a dramatic difference after work completed. The 10 ml plastic Vapor barrier also has prevented that old damp smell inside the house after heavy rains. Was a good experience, and reasonable cost-(initial estimate $10,400, additional work required and we added foundation vent installation was $3800); would hire again."
"Our basement flooded 07-13-13 when we got a historic rainfall of 8.5" in 75 minutes. We were able to wet vac and dehumidify but wanted to eliminate our primary and battery back-up sump pumps, which had been unable to keep up with the in-flow. We felt we needed better drainage along the 60' level front driveway along the front of the house, and to install a large passive pipe from the basement sump room out into the downward-sloping back yard, about 4' lower than the sump pit. However this would be complicated due to a back-filled area between the sump room and the back yard. My husband contacted All-Dry approx 08-01-13 and they scheduled someone to visit on 08-15-13. Steve arrived on time and was professional, but said "We don't like passive drainage." They apparently have a very limited list of things they can offer: sump pumps, small (3") floor drains, plastic sheeting and dehumidifiers. We had seen about 150 gallons per minute roaring into our sump room during this storm and were traumatized yet determined never to have this happen again, even if we have another 100-year rainfall event and the electricity goes out. All Dry was unable to offer a suitable solution. Steve said they would quote the installation of the plastic sheeting if I would send them the sump room dimensions. My husband sent him the dimensions the same day but we never received a quote. Thank goodness my husband is an engineer, as he was able to calculate the sizing and oversee installation of an NDS Dura=Slope drain channel along the driveway, and to arrange for a directional boring company to bore underground from the backyard into the sump room, where we installed a 6" PVC drain line at 4% down slope, capable of flowing over 600 gpm sans pumps."
"I had to have a drain unclogged two weeks ago and Jamie came out. He was extremely quick and did the work perfectly. He was very nice and professional. Today I had an emergency because my water heater burst and hot water was pouring out. I needed someone to come right away because Iâ m elderly And I did not know how to turn off the water. They sent Mikki here within 15 minutes and he knew right away the problem and had my old one out and my new one installed in less than two hours. He also was very kind and professional. I cannot imagine calling another plumber company after this. I would definitely recommend them to anybody."
"The job was completed in a timely and professional manner. I would use Powell Plumbing again for any future plumbing needs I may have. I would highly recommend."
"Our technician, Dameyan Jackson, called the night before the day of service to let me know the time that he would be here to service our system. On Friday, he called to let me know that he was available to come earlier than scheduled, if I would like. He arrived shortly after the phone call, came in and quickly recognized that the pump had failed. He was very knowledgeable and professional. I was very pleased with his service and look forward to him returning to install a new pump."
"After giving us an estimate in Dec 2014 and constantly following up with us they earned our business. They installed 8 piers and 3 beams under our home and what a difference! Just walking across the floors feels so sturdy. Now that this has been completed we can begin working on our kitchen remodel. Thanks Again!
Russell and two of his crew removed two existing powered roof attic ventilation fans from our roof and replaced them with two new fans. The motor on one of the fans had burned out, and since both fans were the same age, we decided to replace both fans. The cost of a new motor was about the same as the cost of an entirely new fan. Russell picked up the new fans on the way to the job site. The pitch of our roof is very steep, so access to the fans was not easy. Some roofers will replace these fans but will not disconnect or reconnect the electrical wiring. Russell and his crew handled the electrical as well. Access to the fans from the inside of our attic is not practical because of the roof height, so they had to have enough slack in the electrical cable that was attached to enable the fans to be removed and pulled out from above with the wiring still attached. Russell went into the attic and disconnected the electrical cable from the studs to enable this to be done. He replaced the electrical cable on one of the fans that was shorter than the other to facilitate its removal if this ever happens again. He did not charge me for the new cable. He charged me for the actual cost of the fans plus the labor for his crew. The new fans are very quiet. It rained one day after the job was completed and I checked in the attic....there were no leaks around the fans.
The fans are thermostatically controlled, and it was not hot enough the morning that they were installed to cause them to run. So we could not confirm that they actually would run while Russell and his crew were here. After they were gone, the attic temperature did get hot enough, and I confirmed that the fans did come on as they are supposed to do. Russell called the next morning to confirm that they did come the afternoon of the job.
I was very pleased with the job and would definitely use Russell and his crew again.
Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts
3/4 HP is stronger than 1/2 HP. Horsepower measures how much weight can be moved and how fast, or the power needed to move 550 pounds one foot in one second. 1 HP equals 550 foot-pounds per second, so the higher the horsepower, the heavier the load it can lift. While 1/2 HP is a standard, powerful option, 3/4 HP has the extra strength to handle heavier, larger doors with ease.
A sump pump can be plugged into a regular, 110-volt outlet with three-prong openings, but it must have GFCI protections per the NEC, meaning you’ll need a GFCI outlet and circuit. Sump pumps require two outlet openings, one for the plug to the motor and one for the float switch.
To maintain your sump pump, start by checking it every three to four months to ensure it’s in working order. Clear any debris from the pit because blockages can prevent the pump from operating efficiently. You should also test the pump by pouring a bucket of water into the pit. If it turns on automatically and drains the water, it’s functioning correctly. Inspect the discharge line for clogs, and ensure it directs water away from your home. Once a year, clean the pump itself, and consider having it professionally serviced for optimal performance.
Sump pumps prevent basement flooding, reduce humidity, and protect against water damage.
Common problems include motor failure, clogged discharge lines, and float switch malfunctions. Regular maintenance prevents many issues.
