SCAM? Two employees dressed in company uniforms came to the house. They arrived 15-20 minutes early. The onside visit, regardless of whether work is done or not, costs $132.31. They assessed site and design for installation of a standard pre-fan shower kit, which had specifications fitting the old shower precisely. (Nothing was wrong with the old shower, installed when the house was built in 2007 - Just wanted a different model, which I will purchase at a home improvement store.) Mr. ROOTERS cost of installation (my 3rd estimate), was more than twice as high as ANY other.- in fact $1225.00 higher. Of course the $132.31 would apply. Guess I just got ripped off for that amount. I paid them, of course, but suggest there are plenty of places that do good work and do free assessments. Applying a $132 site visit charge to a $2225 overcharge is a long way from "cost effective."

The service man (Doug) arrived at the appointed time and did a thorough job of diagnosing the problem and working up a proposal.   I typically rate professional prices with a "C" when they fall within the norm of what I've come to expect.  In this case, I rated the price a "B", first, because the quote was actually a bit lower than I had anticipated due to my signing on to their "Advantage Plan".  Second, the work ended up taking longer than expected and the plumber returned for a second day... without increasing the cost of service
Once I accepted that proposal, we scheduled a day to do the work.  Since the problem was at a rental unit, with the tenants out of town, I had to meet the plumber to give him access, and he always would call to inform me of his pending arrival.  He was always on time.
The repair necessitated rerouting the water line overhead which could have resulted in quite a bit of after-repair refinishing work.  However, Doug worked hard to minimize this and was able to do his work by cutting out a single small section of ceiling (which he reinserted) that I'll be able to patch myself.
The office was courteous, helpful and prompt in getting me assistance.  The plumber and his helper were very professional, friendly, competent and accommodating to our needs.  They took great care in not tracking dirt into the home and in cleaning up after themselves.  I'll definitely be using them again as the need arises.

I have a split level home with two separate hot water heaters, though they share a cold water supply line.  The downstairs had begun to leak (over 10 years old).  I replaced it myself, but then the house picked up a "jackhammer" sound in the pipes whenever I used certain items (e.g. washer, Master Bath Tub, Master Bath toilet).  I tried multiple items (replaced heat traps in the water heater, tried draining and venting home to ensure air arrestors were drained....etc) to no avail.  I then returned and replaced that water heater, same problem...it was so bad I thought my copper pipes, the solder joints were going to fail).
Anyway, I spent nearly a week of my off time trying to figure it out and finally gave in and called a plumber.  Mr Rooter had great reviews and I was most impressed with the receptionist/office manager and later Vince.   He got someone out the same day.
Doug B called coordinated the time, very professional, took great care in putting booties and mats out to protect my home.  Since I had removed the 2nd water heater, he gave me quotes on installation if I purchase one on my own, or they purchased one and install.  I told him to pick one that he knew was reliable and was comfortable installing (I was beaten down!...laughs).  Doug B picked it up, installed with no problems, professional installation, allowed me to ask questions so I could get smart from a DIY perspective. Just an easy-going professional family man, I had NO reservations or concerns with him in my home.
After the installation, the "jackhammer" problem persisted, within 30 min of troubleshooting, he isolated the problem to a failure in my water pressure reduction valve.  He had it replaced within an hour or so, and the problem has not returned.      I was very pleased with the service.  Though I gave a "B" vs an "A" on the price, it's only because having already purchased two water heaters on my own prior to calling Mr Rooter (one was almost identical to the one they installed, but under a different name), but I know it was about 2-300$ more than what I paid.  However, I was frustrated and I just wanted the problem fixed.  So the lesson is probably go purchase the water heater on your own and just have Mr Rooter install it.  The labor charge was very reasonable given the work and care demonstrated by Doug B.
Calling any technician is not cheap these days, remember you're paying for someone's training, experience and professionalism....and that's before they begin work.  As I've gotten older, I've come to realize  I don't way some fly by night outfit.  I will pay a fair wage, but I expect the work done right the first time, but if there is a subsequent problem, that it is fixed promptly and that they stand by their work.  I felt that this outfit did this from the first call to the moment Doug B. departed my home.
Please give this lengthy detailed review some weight, I took the time to write this because it's getting so d*** hard to figure out the good guys from the bad, so I wanted to ensure someone was able to see this is a good outfit.

This is the 2nd company that offer 24/7 emergency service I called during the weekends. They are very responsive and helped me setup a visit the same day in the afternoon. The plumber came on time and check the problem and explained to me what need to be done very clearly. It was a 2-3 hour job. The price quote they gave me is very reasonable, half of the quote from the first company (another company beginning with Mr. Fxxxx. Very bad experience, I will review later). They offered me member price (another 15% discount), even before I told him I am actually a member. The job was done very very neatly. The plumber cut a square hole on the other side of the wall and get the shower valve replaced. He went to Lowes to purchase a 16 by 16 vinyl cover to cover the hole, which I do not need to pay for (Have to complain about the first company again. The first sentence the plumber from that company told me was that he would not do anything to the hole on the wall. I have to deal with it). It looks fantastic. The rest of the job was done flawlessly too. He also offered to help me trash the old unit. Overall, it is a 5-star experience and I will definitely use them again and recommend them to everyone I know (forget about the Mr. Fxxxx company. They just want to rip your money).

I used Mr. Rooter right after they purchased the franchise.  The OLD owners were terrible, and the new team is absolutely fantastic.  I own a lot of property and have used them quite a few times and have been very happy.  The owner went above and beyond to take care of an issue from the previous owner.  His follow through and attentive care was very impressive.  I find that it's difficult to find good service most times, and EVERY time I have used Mr. Rooter they have been very professional.  They have a pricing standard and when they provide a quote, it is based on a list of criteria.  I can count on fair and consistent pricing every time.  It's difficult to find a company that you can trust, and I have found that in Mr. Rooter.  I highly recommend them.

Mr Plumber (Steve) came out on the day he told me. Instead of digging up the old line, the plan was to just install a new line from the main to the house. After he removed a large bush that blocked his way (in 90 degree weather) he found the old pressure reduction valve - as he had predicted. So there was no longer a need to replace the line. He took out the old faulty valve (I have another pressure reduction valve under my house- so WHY there was a second one buried in the yard is anyone's guess), and the problem was gone as soon as the water was turned back on. Steve has helped me out several times now, and I can only recommend him on his professionalism, knowledge and helpful attitude. He has gone the extra mile in determining the source of the problem, and I deeply regret involving another plumber (especially after I had such poor response from them).  Every time I called Mr. Rooter,  he almost immediately responded back';  the one time he had to reschedule  was because there was an emergency at someone's house, and I was notified well in advance. Mr Rooter of the CSRA has my full endorsement.

Steve was wonderful.  I called in the early morning hours because I had no hot water.  I left a message and got a call a few minutes later.  I explained the problem.  He came by this afternoon and took care of the pilot light with a smile and did not make fun of me for being a worry-wart!   I love this company!!!

I had been wondering about a soft spot in my yard for about 3 years, so I decided to investigate. I dug around the soft spot only to reveal a mammoth gusher.  I called a local, well-advertised plumbing company, but I got the impression that my emergency could wait.  So I called Mr. Rooter expecting to be put off too, but the Mr. Rooter tech was at my home almost immediately after placing my call (to be exact, 15 minutes).  The tech sent to my job was very professional, enjoyable, and very easy to relate to.  The tech stayed to make sure the work was complete and that the problem was fixed.  I could have made this repair, but I would not have known the cause of the damage or the extent of the repair if it had not been for the Mr. Rooter tech.
