"Brandon and Haley with Quality Flooring and renovations did an outstanding job renovating our powder room. They came and worked in our home on a holiday and delivered as promised. "We needed carpet replaced in a living room. Carpet selection was very convenient at our house with Rob's assistance. It was helpful to see the samples on site. The installers arrived on time and were efficient and provided a very good installation. We are very pleased with the quality of the carpet and installation. Customer service was excellent at every stage. Price is competitive and was lower than a big box store for comparable carpet."

"I couldn’t be more pleased with the quartz and tile installation done by Chip Streeter at Mount Pleasant Residential Repair. My small kitchen on Folly Beach needed new countertops and tile backsplash desperately! I love the thick quartz countertop on the island. Chip suggested the backsplash be installed upwards to make my kitchen appear taller and more spacious! I’m so happy with the results and I get so many compliments too! Chip is a true professional — his attention to detail, clear communication, and commitment to quality were evident throughout the entire project. I will surely call Mount Pleasant Residential Repair again when I tackle my master bathroom!"

"Les did a great job. He made our shower look great and definitely market ready, as we are selling the home. He was accommodating with the schedule and worked us in to what was obviously already a busy work week for him.

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

You can put hot pans on porcelain countertops. Porcelain is highly resistant to heat—it’s manufactured at around 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit, so it can withstand a ton of heat without cracking or damaging. Even though the high heat is a plus, you should still be cautious when putting hot surfaces on porcelain countertops.

The lifespan of bathroom tile can be 50 years or more, depending on proper installation and regular maintenance. A well-done tile job, whether it's a new installation or a retiling project, can last for many decades. To lengthen the life of your tile, it's best to have it installed by a professional and to perform regular maintenance. This includes routine cleaning, resealing, and regrouting as needed. With proper care, you can expect your tile to last 10 years or more before needing major repairs or retiling, especially in high-traffic areas where tiles can wear out more quickly.

You have creative freedom when it comes to your tile trim. If, however, you are considering skipping tile trim, please think twice about that. It is good practice to install tile trim, whether on walls or flooring. Think, too, about the aesthetic you are going for and choose a trim type and color that will help enhance the space.

On average, tiling a bathroom involves about 12 hours of labor, usually spread over two to three days to accommodate prep work and curing times. A professional tiler can often complete the installation in 6 to 8 hours, whereas a DIYer might take 10 to 16 hours. The total project time is influenced by factors like the bathroom layout, tile type, and necessary prep work, such as removing old tile. The process includes specific timelines for different areas; for example, tiling a floor takes about six hours, while a shower area can take six to ten hours. It is essential to allow for adequate curing time—typically 24 hours each—for the mortar, grout, and caulk, which is why the project extends over several days.

Yes, it’s possible to cut tile without a wet saw; instead, you can use an angle grinder, a glass cutter, a snap cutter, tile nippers, or a rotary tool with a tile-cutting blade. A manual tile cutter or snap cutter works well for the larger tiles that wet saws are typically used for, while smaller projects might just require nippers or a glass cutting wheel. If you’re working with large quantities of tile, however, power tools are best.
