"We faced a whole-house flooring install, along with removal of carpet and tile. CMH Flooring, Inc. handled the entire project seamlessly, from measuring for material to prep to install. The project went smoothly and efficiently, and we are so happy with how the finished flooring and stairs look and feel. The entire CMH team was great to work with."

"Brandon and Haley with Quality Flooring and renovations did an outstanding job renovating our powder room. They came and worked in our home on a holiday and delivered as promised. The old wood was replaced with new wood. They installed a new toilet and new sink and our powder room looks magnificent. Can’t recommend this company high enough! Call them today!"

"Rob was excellent to work with. He was a great help in selecting the best product for our home and worked diligently to find us the pattern and color we wanted. His 2 installers, Nick and Craig, arrived on time each of the 4 days it took to install our new vinyl flooring. They were pleasant and professional, and their experience in installing floors was evident. Their work was flawless. They were very careful moving our furniture around and did a great job cleaning up and repositioning our furniture. They also completed the installation ahead of schedule. I highly recommend Floor Coverings International. You will not be disappointed."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

It’s easiest to start from an edge as it gives you a straight line. A problem may arise if your edge doesn’t line up perfectly, in which case it’s best to start from the center. Some think that starting tile from the center adds a focal point in the center of the hearth.

When choosing tiles for a shower floor, avoid highly porous tile materials, like those with a water absorption rating over 7%. Don’t use non-vitreous tiles, or tiles fired at low temperatures, because they will absorb more water. If you use a highly porous tile in the shower, the tiles can wear down faster, meaning they’ll need to be replaced much sooner.

It’s best to install a shower door after the bathroom tile is in place to ensure you have accurate measurements. If you try installing a shower door first, the tile might be too thick to install afterward, or the tile will be too thin and create a gap between the shower doors that allows water to leak. With the tile in place first, you’ll know the exact shower door size that you need.

Yes, provided you aren’t installing drywall over it. But you can skim coat it, apply new tile right on top, paint it, or stencil it. For more budget- and DIY-friendly options, you can install beadboard or apply decals. Just make sure that the current tiles are in good condition and prepped well for the paint or adhesive to stick.

On average, tiling a shower costs between $1,800 and $5,000, with most people paying around $2,700. The price of this project depends on multiple factors, including the kind of tile you choose, the size of your shower, and labor rates in your area. If you decide to tile your own shower (instead of hiring a professional), it’ll likely cost $800 to $1,400.
