"Garth and his crew painted the exterior of one of my old mill houses in Fort Mill. It had very old concrete-composite-fiber tile siding, as well as some wood trim, an addition with aluminum siding, brick foundation, old wooden gable vents, and original wood double-hung windows. The windows needed to be scraped, re-glazed and primed and painted. Some of the wood corner boards had lost much of their paint, so they needed a lot of attention. And, of course, lots of cauling was necessary.Preparation alone took a day, as it should. Since the trim around the windows, soffits and fascia were wrapped aluminum, they were careful to tape those areas off to avoid overspray. They took care not to paint the old windows shut. And they spent extra time making sure everything was thoroughly caulked and sealed up. They even revived our nearly delapidated crawlspace door, and handled a few other "while you're here" tasks.
Garth is always a pleasure to work with.  I've used him on several other projects in the past, including interior paint, tile, countetop installation, window replacement, roof repair/replacement, light plumbing repairs, installing new lights, framing, small structural repairs, etc.
I will definitely be using him again."

"Called her on Wednesday and asked if she would be able to come out by Saturday, since we had an event at our house (daughters birthday party).  I told her that the yard needed some care, since we just moved in, and it hadn't appeared that anything had been done on the yard in the last 45 days or so.  She said she would try to come out that night.  I told her to call me if there were any questions or problems.
Wed Night:
6:39pm - Said she could not make it, but she'd try to come on Thursday and she'd let me know.  No problem - told her she should call me if there are any questions.
Thu Night:
4:54pm - Said they'd be coming "today", even though it was almost over.
6:47pm - Said they're stuck in traffic, would I still like them to come or wait until Friday?  I said either way - no response.
Fri Morning:
8:37am - We're on the way.  I told them if they had any questions, to call me.
?? - Arrived after I left to work, my wife told them we needed the grass cut, bushes trimmed, leaves picked up, etc.  She said she had several houses in the neighborhood, so would probably be able to do it later in the day.
7:18pm - Said they won't make it, will be coming Saturday to take care of it.  They were hoping to get there early Saturday morning.
Sat Morning:
10:22am - We're on the way and asked for cash(!) instead of cc.
I had to leave to take my daughter somewhere, and 2 people showed up in the 30 minutes I was gone.
They mowed the yard, trimmed the bushes, and cleaned up the leaves.  They were done in 20-25 minutes.  My wife said we could write them a check, so she wrote it out to their company.  She insisted it be written just in their name, to which my wife begrudgingly accommodated.
Arrived back home at 11:00a, noticed the weeds were still growing next to the garage, so I texted and called them about why they didn't remove the weeds or if they just sprayed them.  She said they didn't do anything with them, "because you didn't ask us to - we figured you were going to take care of it".  Now, in what world does yard cleanup NOT include removing weeds?  $100 for mowing the lawn, trimming 4 bushes and cleaning up leaves?  Are you serious?
She said my wife had asked to get on a maintenance plan, and they'd just take care of it in a couple weeks.  I told her that I had paid them to clean-up the yard, and for every other landscaper in the world, that includes taking care of weeds.  She reiterated that we didn't specifically ask, so they didn't do it, and it wasn't part of their quote.  I asked her why didn't she call me, since I had told her numerous times to call me if there were any questions - no response.  I'm not sure why they wouldn't just ask about taking care of weeds - it's a 60 second conversation - "Hey, we noticed weeds, do you want us to take care of it?  It wasn't in the original quote, but we'll do it for an extra $xx".
She offered to come back out, since they "were still in the area", to which I told them to forget about it.  I also told them we wouldn't need their maintenance service, either.  I would have let her come back to take care of the weeds, but we had people arriving in 10 minutes.  Their last 3 days of jerking us around about what time they were coming didn't encourage me that they'd be back, or if they'd actually show up in the future.
Bottom line (tl;dr): Seems to do decent work, when they do the work.  Edges were trimmed nicely, lawn picked up, no scraps, etc.  Need to explicitly tell them what you want done, though.  But $100 to mow the lawn, trim a few bushes, and not take care of the weeds?  C'mon..."

"Albert and his team are the best! They fixed all of the problems that the builder left on the drywall and continued to fix areas that they noticed as they were working (things we didn't even have to point out to them). They are very proactive and do the job right without any supervision. They even fixed the horrible trim that the builders left in horrible condition (the builder did a sloppy installation) and didn't even charge us any extra for that. This is the team that has it all. They won't just come in and paint over bad drywall and patch jobs. They fix and then paint. They are just wonderful. I cannot say enough good things about them. They were punctual, courteous, informative, and did the job right from start to finish. They were also very good about keeping us informed and up-to-date on the status of the job."

"

It was an obvious problem with a simple solution. I explained to Marc what the situation was and he quoted an approximate cost.  When the tech came, he came up with a slightly higher number, but not enough to be concerned about.  He completed the job in a timely manner, was neat about enlarging the hole that I started in my wall and did not leave a mess on my garage floor.  The tech also gave me a rough estimate for some more work I want to do in the future.  Due diligence will be done, but all things being equal or close enough, I will hire MI Electric in the future.

I gave a B grade for responsiveness because I had to follow up with Marc after not hearing from him when we agreed would be a good time.  Marc answered my call and got a tech to me in less than an hour and the job was completed approx. 24 hrs. after our first contact.  Great recovery!

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

The most significant expense when building a barndominium is constructing the metal shell, which includes the roof, doors, and windows. Additional exterior components impacting the overall cost include metal siding and the concrete foundation.

Depending on your needs, you may find a storebought pole barn is a much less expensive option than a custom-built one. You can find pole barn kits from big box retailers starting at $11,000, but you will be limited when it comes to size and add-on features. As long as you have the necessary skills, you can save on labor costs by doing it yourself; but there are a lot of different skill sets you would need, and mistakes during the building process can lead to excessive repair bills later.

Whether you buy a prefabricated shed or build one depends on why you need it and where you stay. For instance, if a simple garden shed is what you’re after, it’ll be less expensive to buy one already built. But if you want a shed with windows, plumbing, and electric work, a custom-built unit might be more suited to your needs.

It is recommended that you check with your local building official on barn building requirements and rules, since size restrictions vary greatly from region to region based on what your property is zoned for. Some cities limit barn construction depending on if your property is residential or commercial. The three main factors your building commission will evaluate are:

  • Height and lot coverage: How tall your barn is and how much of your total property it occupies

  • Setback: Distance between barn and property line

  • Easement: Legal right for another owner to access another’s property

Yes, barndominiums can be two stories. Blueprints for barndominiums can safely support multiple stories or vaulted ceiling heights of 14 feet or more. Barndominiums are prized for their ability to be modified and customized to suit the builder’s preferences, and many barndominium construction companies offer a variety of different floor plans to choose from.
