"The technician was friendly, courteous, honest, and EXTREMELY knowledgeable. He arranged the appointment promptly, communicated thoroughly, and arrived on time. Neighborhood Plumber obviously values being prepared to do any kind of work from leak repair to completely plumbing a house. I can’t recommend them enough. My water leak was repaired expertly, and Jordan was prepared to answer my questions about my future water heater project. I WILL be their customer in the future."

"Jesse's well service is very knowledgeable about every aspect of the business. The same day I called for his help he was at my house that same day. Since we still had water we were not an emergency situation. Once he got here it only took him 15 minutes to figure out our problem. I will make sure if I ever need his service again that I absolutely will use his business again. He and his guys were very quick and professional from the men he sent to the equipment he uses. Top notch in my opinion."

"I got 3 estimates for encapsulating my crawlspace;  Two of the estimates were similar in price (Inc Crawlspace Doctor) and one was out of consideration (10K+).   I decided to go with Crawlspace Doctor for Three main reasons 1) Greg provided very detailed information about the process and spent a lot of time answering any questions  2) Greg encapsulates the space with foam board vs. spray foam which I preferred  3) Price was competitive to the other bid I had for similar service.
My home is 2400 sq ft ranch style, and I decided to encapsulate the space after I noticed some mold growth on the floor joists in the crawlspace.  Greg's team offers a cleaning and sanitization of the joists which was a top priority for me in having this work done.
Greg's team was on time, and they did an incredible job preparing the crawlspace for the liner (raking, leveling, digging the two trench lines to the drainage sump that was installed as part of the job).  They sprayed and lightly scrubbed the joists and the joists look 90% better.  They installed the liner on the walls and then the foam board and sealed all of the vents.  After that, the liner was installed on the floor including an area of double liner where we store a few things in the space.  Finally, the dehumidifier was installed (Greg's team built a platform for the unit so it's in the air and I have to say the unit is very quiet and seems well built).
Greg has taken care of a few extra issues when promised (sealing the door and taking care of one issue with the dehumidifier).
Greg and his team did an excellent job overall.  I am very pleased with the work.  I also believe from working with Greg that he will help with any future concerns associated with the work (he takes a lot of pride in these installations).  I would recommend this group to anyone considering having crawlspace work performed.

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Installing a water softener could help reduce calcium buildup in your pool if your pool has high calcium hardness as a result of hard drinking water in your home. Pool softeners work by exchanging calcium and magnesium for sodium, so if you use softened water to top off your pool, it may help keep calcium hardness from rising over time. However, it won’t lower the calcium hardness of the water already in your pool and isn’t a practical way to control pool calcium levels. The average water softener installation cost is between $200 and $6,000.

Hard water stains can be a headache because they will reoccur as long as hard water flows through. Thankfully, hard water stains are not permanent. With the right tools and an appropriate cleaning routine, you can prevent hard water stains from ever building up. However, you might feel like you are stuck in a constant cleaning cycle. In that case, you may consider hiring a contractor to perform routine cleaning.

You can decide whether you need a water softener or water filter based on how your bathing or laundry experience is. If you notice issues like limescale buildup, dry skin, or stains on dishes—all telltale signs of hard water—you'd likely benefit from a water softener. However, if your main concern is over chemicals or bacteria in your tap water filter, and not just comfort, a filter is a better option.

Hard water is not considered unhealthy and is safe to drink, cook with, and bathe in. It doesn't pose a risk to your physical health and can even help you get enough essential minerals like calcium in your diet. However, it can negatively affect skin and hair. Using hard water for washing can contribute to dry skin, an itchy scalp, and may worsen conditions like eczema by altering the pH balance. Additionally, some people do not like the taste of hard water.

Replacing a water softener costs $200 to $6,000, depending on the capacity of the water softener, the type of water softener, and the amount of people living in your home. An ion exchange water softener is the most common type and costs $500 to $3,000. Water distillers, which cost $1,200 to $4,000, and dual-tank models, which cost $1,000 to $5,000, are definitely pricey, but they offer more filtration or capacity, respectively.
