"Outstanding! Arrived same day I made contact. Efficient, clean as you go work and organized. Perfect job. Enjoyed having in my home. He does more than duct work, he cleans grout and tile. Having him come back and remove poor sealing job done by prior contractor on my marble bathroom. Only two certified people in SC to apply Rex-Pro on marble, can't wait to have this done. Could not be happier."

"I hired Cransten to remodel my bathroom. It was getting old and in need of an update. They came in, replaced the floor, built a shower pan, and laid custom tile around my shower. I was impressed with how friendly and professional they were. I would definitely hire them again!"

"I told the technician that I wanted the fan flush mounted as all the other ones in my home. I showed him the other fans. He still put it with the fan attached to the rod instead. So he to had to take it down and do it correctly. I had to show him the instructions in the box. When he removed the fan he did find that the base was not properly attached to the beam in the ceiling and he fixed that."

The company is co-owned by Rusty Holt and Chris Cochran. Together we bring to the construction and decision process over 40 years of hands on building and business experience. We have worked for the some of the nation’s largest contractors as a superintendent/PM and acted as the project manager and owner’s representative for multimillion-dollar medical complexes. These are just two of the roles we have filled in the industry. In addition, we have met the needs of many individual homeowners. We are each familiar with what it takes to complete a given division of construction at the tradesman level.\n\nOur experience over the years has focused on multi-family, single family residential, hospitality, medical offices, light industrial, and, general retail. Projects have included ground up and interior upfits. People ask us, what is your niche. It’s simple, we build. One of the reasons we are successful is our dependable base of sub-contractors can be counted on to show up and do quality work at a competitive price. \n\nRecently our company was featured in Mount Pleasant magazine. Customers say: True professional

"We have a FP chimney that need mortaring some small holes and spaces between bricks. He installed a damper, adjusted the chimney top covering, and checked the interior mortar. He told us we didn't need to fill the holes, as heat would not hurt it. Wonderful man."

"Stone Central did a great job on my recent need in kitchen countertops with an acceptable price. Many thanks to Bonni, Heather and the team at Stone Central. They were nice and easy to work with, and very customer oriented in design, material selection, layout and fabrication. The installation team was also good not only on installing the new countertops but also pulling off the old. They responded to all after installation questions efficiently and had all potential issues professionally addressed. I strongly recommend Stone Central and will use them again for my future needs."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

No, when done correctly, removing the tile shouldn’t damage the subfloor. However, if there was pre-existing damage to the subfloor from standard use or lack of maintenance, the subfloor may need repairs. For example, if the contractors notice mold growth on the subfloor or an uneven surface, you may need more extensive services before installing new tile.

If you DIY tile removal, remove the tiles one step at a time, individually removing the tile, grout, and mortar to prevent unnecessarily damaging the subfloor. Depending on the age of your home, consider having a professional inspect the subfloor to ensure it’s in good enough condition to lay new tile.

Replacing tile flooring can take a few days for a pro, but larger rooms will need more time. It takes eight to 12 hours for a tiling pro to remove old grout and tiles across 100 square feet. Then, it will take about four hours to prep the subfloor for tiles and another eight to 10 hours for a pro to install new tiles. Your tiling project may take up to a week, depending on the size of the room.

The lifespan of tile flooring can vary significantly based on the material and maintenance. Generally, tile flooring can last anywhere from 10 to 30 years, but high-quality, well-maintained ceramic tile can last 75 to 100 years. To achieve a longer lifespan, you should clean the tiles and grout regularly, reseal the grout annually, keep the floor dry, and avoid placing extremely heavy items on it to prevent cracking. Choosing a high-quality tile (Grade 1) will also contribute to its longevity.

Yes, cracked tiles allow water to seep through the substrate or subfloor, leading to mold and mildew growth. It can also cause severe structural damage. At the very least, water damage can cause your tile to lift from the substrate, meaning one cracked tile can lead to several cracked tiles. It’s a good idea to waterproof tile in areas with direct water exposure or lots of moisture.

Travertine is a natural stone, while porcelain is ceramic. You can enjoy the best of both worlds with porcelain travertine tiles. Some people prefer porcelain to travertine because it doesn’t require regular maintenance and it’s easier to clean. Porcelain travertine looks like the real thing but only costs $3 to $6 per square foot.
