"I had a need to remodel kitchen in my condo on Daniel Island. I called different companies and ads and had total 5 visits and 4 quotes for the future work. I picked Danny with Straight and True construction because he was the only one who was able to answer all my construction and design questions (I had a lot of them). He was very knowledgeable and obviously very experienced. He also gave me several ideas and suggestions right during the first visit. The work he did for me was as follows: My kitchen island/bar was ridiculously tall, I couldn’t even find anywhere that tall chairs for the bar. Danny cut down and leveled that kitchen island. He also assembled and installed RTA kitchen cabinets, installed butcher block countertops, installed subway tiles. He also advised on the correct grout color for the tiles. Installed new kitchen sink. And he painted the kitchen afterward. All work was done in 4 days total, which was very impressive to me! The quality of work is outstanding! I highly recommend Danny for any remodel project!"

"We requested a quote on Sunday, and they immediately returned our call. Scott dropped by a couple of hours later, and we agreed on the quote. He was able to schedule us for the next day! So this morning they arrived, and 5 hours later our 450 square feet of tile was clean, and the grout looks beautiful! We highly recommend Solutions Cleaning, LLC. You will not be disappointed!"

"Weâ re very happy with our new walk-in shower, which was installed in a single day, in less than 7 hours. The new shower replaced an old stand-in the builder hadnâ t probably installed and that had started to leak. West Shore made sure all of the old materials were removed and that everything was cleaned and water sealed before replacing with new materials. We were able to choose everything to our personal design taste, including the type of shower head (we LOVE our 6-way magnetic Moen head - so worth the upgrade!) shelving type and location, and the finish of the fixtures. Our shower now looks and feels luxurious and there is absolutely no leaking anymore like we had before they came. The walls and floor are extremely easy to clean and also resist mold and hard water stains, and the glass doors are also easy to wipe clean, with very few crooks and crannies that could collect moisture and get moldy. We thought the price was reasonable, too - we had gotten a few quotes and everything else started around $10k higher; though those would have been tiled options and required more labor, weâ re happy to have saved the money plus we also avoided the never-ending battle with grout etc. that we would have faced with standard tile. Our sales person was friendly, informative and easy to work with, our installation appointment ended up being rescheduled for a week earlier than originally planned (they had an opening and called to ask if we wanted to take it) which was awesome, and our installer arrived on time, was quick, efficient and quiet, and left the bathroom and his pathway through the front door to the bathroom extremely clean - I even saw him sweeping the foyer before he left! We have no complaints and only positive things to say about our entire experience with West Shore and our beautiful and relaxing new shower."

"I hired Cransten to remodel my bathroom. It was getting old and in need of an update. They came in, replaced the floor, built a shower pan, and laid custom tile around my shower. I was impressed with how friendly and professional they were. I would definitely hire them again!"

"I told the technician that I wanted the fan flush mounted as all the other ones in my home. I showed him the other fans. He still put it with the fan attached to the rod instead. So he to had to take it down and do it correctly. I had to show him the instructions in the box. When he removed the fan he did find that the base was not properly attached to the beam in the ceiling and he fixed that."

The company is co-owned by Rusty Holt and Chris Cochran. Together we bring to the construction and decision process over 40 years of hands on building and business experience. We have worked for the some of the nation’s largest contractors as a superintendent/PM and acted as the project manager and owner’s representative for multimillion-dollar medical complexes. These are just two of the roles we have filled in the industry. In addition, we have met the needs of many individual homeowners. We are each familiar with what it takes to complete a given division of construction at the tradesman level.\n\nOur experience over the years has focused on multi-family, single family residential, hospitality, medical offices, light industrial, and, general retail. Projects have included ground up and interior upfits. People ask us, what is your niche. It’s simple, we build. One of the reasons we are successful is our dependable base of sub-contractors can be counted on to show up and do quality work at a competitive price. \n\nRecently our company was featured in Mount Pleasant magazine. Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s always a good idea to keep a box or two of spare tiles after a home renovation project. Tiles can crack from improper installation, heavy foot traffic, and impact from drops. Having some extra tile on hand can make replacement fast, easy, and affordable. Plus, some manufacturers might discontinue particular colors or styles, and slight variations in tile colors between batches could mean mismatched tiles even if your product isn’t discontinued. Having a few spare tiles in storage can help avoid these issues, as well.

Removing old tiles can be more complicated, but it can also be more manageable, depending on your circumstances. Typically, old tile is hard to remove because the adhesive had loads of time to bond with your wall, becoming a formidable foe between you and your new tile installation project. On the other hand, old tile in high-traffic areas can become loose, making it much easier to remove.

Mortar and thinset both serve the same purpose—tile adhesion—but have different compositions and use-cases. Thinset is heatproof and presents a wide range of possibilities due to the added polymers. Mortar is typically used for bonding stones and brick. Thinset is rarely used outside, while mortar is rarely used inside.

Yes, tile floor removal is a physically demanding project that takes between eight and 12 hours per 100 square feet. It also requires protective gear and closing the area off with construction-grade plastic sheeting to avoid dust and damage to other parts of your home.

Yes. You can tile over tile if the old tile is in good shape, but this will also create a thicker floor. As a result, you may have to remove and readjust baseboards and other room trimmings and potentially even raise door heights to work with the higher floors. In most projects, it’s best to remove the old tile before installing a new tile floor.
