"Alan Gaul merged two back to back closets and turned it into s larger pantry. He removed and closed off the two existing doors and repositioned it on the kitchen side. He did an excellent job and made sure everything was perfect and cleaned up before he left. I highly recommend him."

"Initial timeline was 3-4 months, but the project took 13. I am overall pleased with how the project was finished, just wish it hadn’t taken so long. Bill has a small crew and the project was initially hampered with rain and the end of year holidays. When I had a concern/issue, Bill addressed it quickly and professionally. We discussed change orders and he swiftly implemented them; I began to follow up our discussions with emails just to make sure we stayed on the same page over the length of the project. I was able to use my preferred electrical subcontractor. My house was built in 1950, so I knew we would find hidden issues (the whole point of the reno was to fix what I didn’t like); as Bill’s workers came across issues, they repaired them. They took great care when working around my young dog who enjoyed their company. The workers cleaned up the site daily/weekly to minimize trash and sharp objects (bad for my mower and my puppy’s paws). I installed natural oak trim, so I did the sanding, staining, and polyurethaning, but Bill installed the doors. I handled my own hardwood floor installation, priming, caulking, and painting."

"We had lived in our home for almost 29 years and what started out as a minor job to repair our livingroom floor turned out to be a major repair for almost our whole downstairs because of termites. A&B started the job and were very professional and took good care of us while the work was being done. They kept us up on the work being done and used top notch professional people to treat our home for the termites, rebuild our floors, walls, insulation, electrical work, sheetrock, painters and a new HVAC system. They are truly givers and not takers! Shane, the Field Manager, was very knowlegable, professional and made sure we were pleased with the work that was done. They did an excellent job on the rebuild and we highly recommed A&B Building Group for any job that you may need, small or large. We are so glad to get our home back and it is much better shape and nicer than when we first bought it! It looks like a new home! I give them more than 5 stars! P. Warren"

"Palmetto Renovations recently completed our kitchen renovation project. We are very happy with the results and the appearance of our new kitchen. We would especially like to thank Alex N. for all the work he did. He takes pride in his work and is very pleasant and easy to work with. His primary focus is to please the customer and deliver a quality product. We would like to recognize Kimberly P. our designer for her input and incorporating all our vision into the final outcome. Logan did a great job at keeping us informed along the way. We are very pleased with our remodel project by Palmetto Renovations!"

"Based on his inspection and my description of the problem, he recommended trying an inexpensive modification to the landscape around the vulnerable point in the foundation before considering All Dry's more expensive interior correction.  I've still got his card on file if the exterior work doesn't do the trick.  No charge for the visit.

"We had a few days delay due to the weather but once the process started everything went great. They cleaned up everything and it was a pleasure coming home to a new roof with no mess. I would highly recommend their work to anyone. Thank you Lakeside Construction."

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

It can take anywhere from a few days to several months to draw up architectural plans, depending on the complexity of your project. Architectural plans are highly detailed documents that take time to complete, and any changes or alterations can significantly extend how long they take.

Universal design is a design concept that states that products, spaces, and general environments are designed to be used by everyone, with an emphasis on accessibility for those with limited mobility or other special needs.

Mid-century modern architecture was a popular home style throughout the U.S. from the 1950s to 1970s. Most homes feature a wide and symmetrical floor plan with low-sloped roofs and floor-to-ceiling windows. Its minimalism and balanced appearance are back on the home style scene, particularly when maximizing sunlight, airflow, and a blend with the home's natural surroundings.

Federal architecture is most common in urban areas throughout the New England states, including the older parts of New York, Pennsylvania (namely, Boston and Philadelphia), Maryland, Massachusetts, and Virginia. The style also dominated in parts of Georgia in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, so many historical homes in the area embody this home design. Salem, MA, has two historic districts that predominantly feature this architectural style: Chestnut Street District and the Salem Maritime National Historic Site.

You have three options in terms of professionals who can draw up blueprints: a draftsperson, an architect, or a structural engineer. A draftsperson can sometimes draw up plans for new construction, but they more often work from approved plans for alterations or to provide 3D drawings. Architects are usually the best option for standard residential construction projects. Structural engineers might be necessary for custom home builds or for alterations that could affect your home’s structural integrity. Draftsmen cost the least of the three, followed by architects and then structural engineers.
