A definite subcontractor problem with the electrician, Derby ______: installed a "last minute" light fixture without using an electrical box ( a big fire hazard), left uncapped live wires in the attic which had been run with the idea of future remodeling of the attic, installed the bath fixtures too high in one BA and too low in the 2nd BA (both had to be readjusted to accomadate a medicine cabinet and then on the too high light, to prevent light from shining directly into eyes) and lastly for the sub electrician, light placement in the cellar was far away from the electric box which he installed so I need a flash light every time I want to read the breaker box. As for Willm's crew: excellent for adding additional supports to the foundation and carpentry work. However several annoying omissions: in the new dryer area that Willm's crew constructed, no dryer vent installed which would have required cutting drywall for the vent and running a flexible dryer tube 10-20 feet in the crawl space to the outside of the house, two bathroom vents were vented into the attic rather than outside (future moisture problem), an old or vintage paneled door was installed backwards so that I had to re-cut for the mortised lock on the other side of the door (I was told it fit better that way. But I am not convinced that it needed to be flipped; changing the mortised lock was inconvenient at best). I give an A+ to the tile guy for the bathroom tile (thanks, Cooley) and a B- to the plumbing subcontractor (the company with the yellow rubber duck on the truck) B- because they followed suit hooking up the bathroom supply lines (in both baths) hot and cold reversed because the hot water heater supply-out pipes had them reversed. Months later I had the hot water heater replaced and the plumber had to switch over the hot and cold supply lines in the 2 bathrooms since the new water heater was now hooked up properly. Finally, as a home owner with (then little knowledge of the workings of plumbing, electricity, etc.) I would have appreciated a warning that my existing gas hot water heater was vented into an old chimmney which has crumbling mortar, allowing carbon monoxide to escape into the attic. A subsequent HVAC (not affiliated with Willm's subs.) alerted me to the carbon monoxide problem which I solved by replacing with an electric water heater. Okay, really one last comment: I took a break in the Willm renovations which allowed me time to ID some of the problems. Then I had a delemia about finishing up the contracted work with the Willm company. In anger and frustration with the problems, I hired someone else to do the fixes because I had lost trust in the Willm afflilates, esp. the electrician. So settling up $$ with Willm after the final inspection was not satisfactory for me and probably not great for Lee Willm either.

Lee Willm showed up on time to give me my estimate. His price was fair but not the cheapest quote I got for the job. I was very impressed with his knowledge about remodeling old houses. The work started on time and the employees were friendly and very professional. The work was quality all the way. I was empresses by the detail. I feel like I got my monies worth and would recommend this company to anyone. I plan to hire them again soon to come back and do some more work in other rooms as my budget can afford it.
