"There are so many mold remediation companies out there, but NO ONE IS AS GOOD as Mold One! Mike and Ron are compassionate, flexible, and willing to explain everything! They were there for me 100%, every single step of the way, during the most horrific time of my life. My prior mold remediation company had been negligent, leaving me exposed to toxic black mold on a daily basis, and Mold One took care of all of it--with no mess or dangerous dust. Mike was LITERALLY a life-saver. There are so many mold remediation companies charging 10 times as much, and doing a far worse job. It is very difficult to find a company you can fully trust to put your interests first (so many say they do, but when it comes down to it they overcharge or cut corners, leaving you in danger!). I hope Mold One becomes the partner of choice for all the major insurance companies, because they are BY FAR MORE COST EFFECTIVE and thorough than any other company I've found."

"Don Lambert, the owner of this company is a get nice man, and is very informative. He will tell your what's what, and leave you feeling confident in your choice to have hired him. He inspected our new home, and also did an air test for mold (separate service from home inspection) and we can gladly say we recommend him for sure!!"

"My technician Tanner was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. After looking at my home and surveying for mold, I decided to have the air tested which he did right then and there. I am still waiting for the results but it was nice to know we had no mold issues."

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Before you start removing mold, turn off the furnace. Clean away any visible mold from accessible areas using a mixture of water and mild detergent. Change air filters and check for moisture sources like leaks. If the problem persists or it's widespread, hire a local HVAC company for professional cleaning.

Removing mold yourself can be dangerous. Always wear protective gear to cover your skin, face, and eyes, and wear a respiratory mask to protect your lungs. It is most recommended to only remove small areas of mold on your own and leave large mold growth to professionals. Mold growth can also be persistent. Without addressing the root cause, DIY surface cleaning can be ineffective and temporary.

DIY kits are available for basic air quality testing, but professional services provide more comprehensive results and recommendations. While a DIY kit may seem cost-effective, a professional assessment is more thorough. Inspectors are better equipped to catch all pollutants and hazards, and you'll still need a professional to verify and act on DIY test results. Furthermore, some kits don't test for certain pollutants or only detect their presence without measuring specific levels (like mold spores). It's generally better to opt for a detailed professional assessment.

No, not all black mold is toxic. Although people often refer to stachybotrys chartarum as toxic black mold, there is little evidence that any one type of black mold has more toxicity than another. People who have an allergy to black mold would be more likely to have a dangerous reaction after inhaling it. Long-term exposure to black mold spores can lead to severe infection and disease. Some people only have minor health problems after black mold exposure. Ultimately, toxicity is rare with any kind of mold, but it is possible, so always take the appropriate precautions.

If your home was built before 1989 and still has original vinyl, there’s a high probability of asbestos mixed into the old flooring, which can harm you and your family if it’s disturbed from removal. If you suspect that you have asbestos, you’ll want to call in an asbestos removal expert to evaluate the situation.
