"Work was performed exactly as discussed and agreed to (match existing paint colors) at estimated cost. Start was delayed at our request due to high heat and humidity, with no complaints. Work was further delayed through no fault of Arch Painting due to continuous wet weather. Once a good weather window finally occurred, the work was performed quickly with no impact on us. We were totally satisfied with the quality of the work and the finished product."

"Is the limit only 5 stars? Bob did several jobs for me that I can no longer do for myself. This included painting a 50 foot concrete garage, removing 2 custom made interior doors, & taking them to his shop, where he stained & polyurethane them. Then he power-washed my natural shingle, cape style house, following that he painted the concrete foundation of said house! We not only got a painter, we got a friend!"

Customers say: True professional

"Rios and Sons were great to work with from the first visit with Nefty for the estimate all the way through. It's a smaller operation than some painting contractors, which I like to support anyway. Nefty is not just out getting contracts, he's also leading the team doing the work. They clearly take pride in doing a detailed and thorough job. On top of that, just a pleasure to work with. Our neighbors commented about what a nice group of folks they are, for instance immediately moving a truck that was in someone's way and being super friendly about it. We couldn't be happier with Rios and Sons, this was truly a five star experience. Highly highly recommended!"

"Zuck painting provided exterior painting on the trim of a duplex we own in Billerica, MA. Their management team was great with communication. Their field team showed up when they were expected, were courteous to our tenants, and provided quality work. The exterior trim looks great now and we plan on keeping Zuck painting at the top of our bidders list for future painting work."

"We were very pleased with Lucas Medeiros for the painting of our house and deck. All of the workers were on time each day, and were efficient in getting the job done in a timely manner. They left the area clean and did not leave until they checked everything. We would definitely recommend this company and would certainly look to them for future work."

Painting questions, answered by experts

A properly applied coat of stain will last between 3 and 8 years, depending on your climate. If you live in a place where your fence experiences a lot of moisture or high heat, your stain will last for a shorter period than in more temperate conditions. We recommend reapplying stain every 3 to 5 years to keep your wood in good condition.

Yes, you can paint galvanized chain link, but the process is a bit more difficult as it requires additional prep work. Before applying the primer and paint, you must remove the original coating from the metal, which can be time-consuming. If the original coating is not removed, the primer and paint will not bond properly and cause peeling over time.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.

Pressure-treated wood lasts at least 10 years, but with the right care and treatment, it can last as long as 40 years. Painting the boards is one way to increase the lifespan of pressure-treated wood. The layer of paint provides extra protection for the wood against the exterior elements and insects.

You can use latex or acrylic paint outdoors. Although acrylic paint tends to last longer outside, it also costs more, so if you’re painting the outside of your house, for instance, latex paint is often a go-to option. However, acrylic will be your best choice if you want to spend some extra money for added durability.
