"We took out the old tiles, removed the toilet and baseboards, and bought the tile before they came to do the installation. The work was done on 9-01-16. When I went to wash off the remaining haze a couple of days later, I discovered that the tiles were two different shades. It was obvious when they were on the floor. The person doing the installation should have seen this. We think he did but, since he didn't speak any English, might not have known how to communicate that to us. We called Pacific Stone & Tile and they said that they would come and replace the tiles that needed to be replaced. We could not match either shade of tile and had to buy two more boxes with a different shade number. Twice an appointment was made and canceled. The third one, 9-26-16, was kept and they redid the whole floor with the new tile. Before they started, all of the tiles were laid out on the garage floor to check for any variations. We had to buy the material to install the tiles, but they did not charge for any additional labor. The floor was checked before they left and everything looks fine. Tomorrow I will wash down the tiles to remove any haze and we can start thinking about getting everything back together again."

"I purchased the Big Deal. According to the description, I would get $2,000 of kitchen cabinet refacing for $199. I scheduled the appointment. The day before the appointment, the guy called to confirm and said he wanted to clarify the terms of the deal. He said many customers were under the impression that all they had to pay was $199, when in fact, the actual deal was that they would get $2,000 off the final price for $199. He said it usually costs about $8,000 to reface an entire kitchen. He said many customers had been confused and did not realize they were only getting a discount. I told him that I read it the same way, and was also under the impression that my total cost would be $199. I was in no position to pay $6,000 for cabinet refacing. I cancelled the appointment due to not understanding exactly what I would be getting and how much it costs when I made the initial Big Deal purchase. The proposal did not make it clear that the total cost of the work would be $8,000 or more."

"There was more construction work that needed to be done before painting than originally thought.  The contractor worked his way around the house making the necessary repairs, starting in the front and ending in the back yard.  This way the painters could start on the front of the house.  All construction work was top-notch and definitelyy should have been done years ago.  The extent of the repairs was a little more than what was included in the original estimate, and resulted in a $400 up-charge, but once we saw the finished product, it was well worth the extra money.  There is something to be said for peace of mind.  The house has never looked this good."

"

It went great, they showed up when they were supposed to, the job was done in 1 day. They also started a week after I hired them which impressed me.

When the salesman came out I was just looking to do a patch job he wasn't pushy but gave me 3 options of things I could do, I deceided to do the whole roof and I am so happy I did.

The contractor who came out to see me was great as well.

I would use them again for other home improvement projects.

"Everything went wonderfully with this company.  They were very professional, listened to exactly what my problem was, and explained to me how they were going to diagnose the problem and/or solve it before doing any actual work.  Once they started, the team (three people came) worked together like a well-oiled machine.  One was in the room with diagnostics, one was at the fuse box looking for possible problems there, and the third went into the crawlspace beneath our house to look at the physical wiring.  Once the problem was found (there was a faulty wire beneath the house that had come loose from the junction box), it was fixed and tested within minutes and another full diagnostic was done to make sure there were no other possible issues.  They cleaned up after themselves very neatly.  They also replaced the light switch with a dimmer switch at no extra cost!  Well within my budget, and came in even lower than their original (FREE) estimate!  I would highly recommend this company to anyone in the Bergen County area.

"I was recommended to JD renovations from Facebook. I messaged him for a hose leaking in my basement ceiling. He showed up to my house in 10 minutes and assessed the situation. He went to the store and got the parts he needed. Came back and fixed it quick! Then I told him about my faucet running non stop and he immediately jumped on that task and fixed it right away! He’s very knowledgeable and everything came out great! And his prices were cheap!!! Plus he’s licensed and insured! Definitely call him for your needs! I will be using him in the future for my handyman needs! Thank you Jeremy!"

Marble Restoration questions, answered by experts

The frequency for sealing marble countertops depends on several factors, including the quality and color of the stone, the type of sealant used, and the amount of traffic the surface receives. Marble has a porous surface that requires sealing to maintain its shine and resist scratches. As a general rule, you should seal countertops at least once a year. However, for heavily used surfaces, like those in a busy kitchen or family bathroom, you may need to reseal them every three to six months. Conversely, countertops in a rarely used guest bathroom might only need resealing every few years.

Any surface, including a waterfall countertop, can last decades based on a few things. First is the chosen material. For instance, quartz and granite are more durable and long-lasting than marble or concrete. Proper care also plays a key role. Regular cleaning and sealing, if required, will help any counter resist stains and damage over time.

Since marble is a porous material, it is more prone to water spots than other countertop options. Fortunately, pure water doesn’t damage your marble, but if the water is acidic, it can cause stains or water spots. Resealing throughout the year can help increase marble’s water resistance, too.

No, you cannot use vinegar to polish marble. It is too acidic for cleaning or polishing and can etch the surface. Instead, opt for non-acidic cleaners made specifically for marble. Follow the manufacturer’s directions to ensure proper application and to protect the marble. However, a damp mop can be an effective marble cleaner when used appropriately and as long as moisture is immediately soaked up.

No, you should not put a hot pan or pot directly on a quartz countertop. While quartz is generally heat-resistant, the resin binders used in its manufacturing are sensitive to extreme heat from items exceeding 150 degrees Fahrenheit. This can damage the resin, leading to discoloration, burns, or even cracking. To prevent permanent damage, always use trivets or hot pads for hot cookware.
