"These ratings are of course on insulation blown in to warm our home in cold weather / perhaps help with air conditioning. This is June 21rst, a week after the work. Time will tell the answers to many of these categories. However, from today's vantage point Mike and his crew came on time, worked tirelessly, cleaned up, were very pleasant to have here working. If the insulation (which appears to have been thorough) keeps the drafts out in winter, the price was well worth it. Jim B"

"It was a pleasure dealing with Mincin and the final result made it worth the expenditure. They did cellulose attic insulation as well as dense packing the floor of an addition from its crawl space. Quite a difference!"

"I'm very pleased with the results. Zach was very pleasant to work with. He and his co-worker did exactly the kind of finish on the walls that I hoped for. They look great! The clean-up afterwards was excellent."

"We used Exceptional Exteriors to totally gut and remodel one of our bathrooms. They did very good work. Everyone involved was very professional. Ralph and John did a wonderful job and even made excellent recommendations regarding the selection of floor tiles and other materials, Roman the owner was responsive, David the plumber was excellent and Mary in their office was a big help. After they finished we found a few issues that needed resolved and they came back to take care of our concerns. We would definitely recommend them to friends and family. They go the extra mile to make sure the customer is happy."

"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can put paneling over textured walls. Of course, this will come down to personal preference and the type of paneling you want to install. From board-and-batten to shiplap and wainscoting, there are plenty of options to choose from.

Although they are used for similar tasks, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum and is primarily used for large-scale projects like taping and finishing seams on new drywall. Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it a thicker compound best suited for small wall repairs like filling nail holes or cracks, as it dries quickly and is easy to sand. For small repairs, either product can be suitable. However, you can use joint compound for small jobs in place of spackle, but you cannot use spackle for large-scale taping and mudding projects.

Plaster is a beautiful finish but is labor-intensive to install and remove. It’s vulnerable to cracking and more sensitive to moisture variance than drywall. Installing plaster on a new wall is an expensive process that can take days to weeks, depending on the scope. Removing a plaster wall can also be quite expensive and time-consuming.

Technically speaking, you can use drywall primer over plasters. However, oil-based primers work the most effectively on wall plasters. Meanwhile, water-based primers work just as well with drywalls. Nowadays, there are also universal primers suitable for drywall and plaster. Overall, you will be fine as long as you are using a trustworthy brand.

Drywall can get wet and dry out without sustaining permanent damage, but only if the water damage is minor. If you have a small leak and are quick to correct the issue and set up blower fans and dehumidifiers, your drywall should dry out. If the leak is persistent, the drywall becomes totally waterlogged, or mold begins forming on the drywall, you should remove and replace it.
