"I obtained 3 quotes for painting in my house which included removing old wallpaper in one room before painting and included included a bedroom, bath and hallway. Affordable Weaver is truly affordable. Their cost estimate was 40% less than the other 2 quotes. The team of 4 arrived promptly at 7:30 am and finished the job in 1 day. Very neat and clean with no paint drippings on my wood baseboards or floor. The owners are a pleasure to deal with and the painting crew took time to understand what color paint I needed in each room. Highly recommend!"

"Outstanding!!! Excellent workmanship. We hired them to paint the interior of our new house and we couldn’t have asked for a better quality of work. They painted the entire first and second flour except for the basement where the floors were not finished yet so we scheduled the painting of the basement for next month. They also did wallpaper removal in the powder and laundry rooms and we were amazed by the final result. The walls were in pretty bad shape under that old wallpaper but they worked on them with spackle and sanding then painted them and the final texture was so smooth and neat, nobody would have guessed there was wallpaper before. I honestly think they are the best."

"The job went well and the work was done within 2 weeks after Bob gave us the quote. Bob removed wallpaper, patched up the walls (they were quite a mess since the paper had been on over 25 years) and painted quickly and efficiently. When I didn't like the first color I chose, Bob had no problem repainting with a different color, even though the extra time set his schedule behind. Things I liked best about Bob--his sense of humor, the fact that he did the work personally and the work was done when he said it would be. We definitely will use Dimenna's in the future. We love the new look."

"I was excited to have work done by 3 Generation's Painting after I had first met with Brad. He is very professional and has a down to earth personality. He was very fair with the pricing and if I had any questions or concerns all I had to do was make a phone call and it was handled. My family and friends have commented on the paint job that was done and I also have recommended this company to some family and friends who were looking to have some painting done. Also, I recommend Norman who is one of Brad's workers to do the job because he is so pleasant to talk with and he takes pride in the work he does. Thanks again Brad and Norman!!"

"Nilton did an amazing job. He made the walls look completely new again. Nilton removed the wallpaper and repainted the entire room. He arrived on time and ready to work and was very professional. He charged extra for the wall paper removal, and of course you have to provide you own paint, but overall, it was very inexpensive.

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

The color of the paint, its opacity, and the depth of the texture on the paper all affect how many coats of paint you need to apply to paintable wallpaper. You'll need at least two coats of paint to ensure even coverage. Don’t be surprised if you need to apply three coats if the embossing is very deep or if you use a dark color.

You shouldn’t need extra adhesive for peel-and-stick backsplash tile. The adhesive on the back of the tile sheets should do the trick. However, if you experience issues with the tile peeling or falling off, make sure the wall you’re working on isn’t textured, as that can prevent the materials from properly adhering.

It is less costly to paint than wallpaper when you only consider the upfront cost. Wallpaper costs $320 to $820 when applied by a pro, while paint only costs $200 to $700 per room. However, when comparing wallpaper versus paint, consider the long-term as well. Wallpaper can save you money over time since it has a much longer life span than paint.

Yes, you can apply peel-and-stick wallpaper over wood paneling, but it requires significant preparation for a good result. Peel-and-stick wallpaper has a weaker adhesive than traditional wallpaper and works best on smooth, non-textured surfaces like painted or primed drywall. Because wood paneling is often textured with grooves, any flaws in the underlying surface will likely be visible after application. To prepare the paneling, you must ensure the surface is free of cracks, holes, and protrusions by filling any indentations and sanding rough spots to create a smooth surface. An alternative is to remove the paneling and apply the wallpaper directly to the underlying drywall or plaster, provided it is in good condition.

Options include bricks, natural stone, and concrete blocks. Choose based on durability, aesthetics, and budget.
