"Jeff is very friendly and professional. He took time to explain what needed to done. He didn’t rush to get the job done but instead took his time to make sure everything was done perfectly. The best part was he cleaned up so well you never knew he was here. His prices are very reasonable and I will be using him again."

"When I first met Nichole, she seemed knowledgeable and helpful. after I told her they had the job, I never heard from her again, even though I texted her and asked her to call me which she never did. she never once visited the job site or followed through with any updates or even if I was satisfied with how things were going or if I was happy with the work when the job was complete. The painters, Nico and his crew were wonderful. they did an excellent job and went above and beyond. The work side of the project was great, but the sales side was not impressive to say the least."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

To prepare a deck for a hot tub, start by thinking about safe and easy access in and out of the tub. Homeowners should plan for steps or consider built-in seating, a level surface around the perimeter, and a clear, slip-resistant path from the house. A hot tub requires sufficient space around it for comfortable entry and exit, ensuring no awkward squeezing or stepping over high edges. Good lighting and handrails can also make a big difference, especially for nighttime use.

PVC decking tends to be cooler than composite because the material is less dense and absorbs less heat. However, it depends on the deck’s color. A dark-colored PVC deck may run hotter than a light-colored composite deck. If you’re concerned about your deck getting too hot, it’s best to stick to a light color such as beige or gray.

The best and fastest way to remove paint from a deck often involves combining a chemical stripper with a pressure washer. Gel-based paint strippers are highly recommended because their thick consistency makes them less messy and easier to apply than liquid strippers. After applying the stripper to loosen the paint, you can use a pressure washer to efficiently wash away the residue. When using a pressure washer for this task, it's important to use a low pressure (under 1000 PSI) to avoid forcing too much moisture into the wood, which could lead to mildew or rot.

Yes, deck pier blocks can be used as an alternative to traditional deck footings, particularly for small or low-to-the-ground decks. Unlike poured concrete and buried post footings, deck blocks don’t require digging or pouring. However, their use is regulated by local building codes, and they may not be permitted in areas prone to high winds, earthquakes, or hurricanes. Always consult your local building codes before choosing them for your deck project.

Yes, you can build a deck around a fire pit, as long as it is safely enclosed, meets code requirements, and is at least 15 feet away from your home. You’ll want to ensure you have a heat-resistant barrier between the fire pit and your deck to prevent any structural damage and fires. A galvanized ring surrounded by pavers, brick, or stone makes for a beautiful, safe, and sturdy design.
