Retaining Wall Installation
I was very pleased with the work he did replacing an old wall that was in bad condition. His estimate was reasonable with no surprises when the job was done. After I told him what I wanted and asked his opinion he explained what he would do and why. He was wonderful to work with. I highly recommend him.

I hired Frank's Landscaping to install 180 sq ft of size 2-3 river rock. And to install plastic edging to hold the rocks in place. This was to stop house gutter rain water from eroding dirt into my neighbors yard. The last week of March 2023 Frank Michalski told me the job was done and I paid him $1,300.00 cash. April 2023 the river rocks started rolling into my neighbor yard. I saw no plastic edging was installed on the property line of my neighbor's yard. I called Frank and he came over and we looked at the problem. Frank said he will install an edging to stop the rocks from rolling into neighbors yard. I waited for him to do the fix. In July I called him and he said he would be over soon. I called again in September and the call went straight to voice mail. I left a message for him to call me about fixing the problem. I called again Oct 9 2023 and left another voice mail message for him to call me. So the problem is not fixed and they will not call me back. "Hi [Member Name Removed], I feel like that is a highly inaccurate portrayal of the situation. You hired us to install a river rock bed along your property to assist in drainage and install edging between your grass and the newly created bed. There was never any talk about installing plastic edging along your neighbors property because that would’ve been impossible with the fence and the shrubs in that area. We completed the project and you were satisfied with the work, and paid us upon completion. Approximately a month later, you decided that it would’ve been ideal to add edging along your neighbors property as indicated in the picture of the text message that you sent me. I made time and came out and met with you and informed you that putting edging like we did along your yard was not included in your quote and would’ve been impossible in that area. The only solution was to put boards along your fence up to the tree roots to try to stop the rocks. I requested that you pay for the materials and the time for us to install it and you declined and became upset with the situation. Trying to smooth things over. I told you that sometime when we had free time and were working in the area and had some leftover lumber. I would come over and install that. On September 29 I came over to your house with a Worker and some leftover lumber that we had to find that you had put up a border using old split rail fence. I knocked on the door and also gave you a phone call and you did not answer. On October 3 I left for a vacation to Jamaica and was gone until October 16 so if you did try to call me during that period I apologize but I was not in the country and did not receive any messages from you. To my surprise when I returned home, I found that not only did you submit a complaint to the Better Business Bureau but you also wrote me a negative review here on Angie’s list. While you’re entitled to have your opinion about our company, I think your approach is a bit misguided, considering you were overly happy with the initial project, and the additional work that I was going to provide for you was being done for free at my expense and time. I wish you would’ve made more of an effort to get in touch with me before writing. Such a negative review."

They are amazing, they removed the old fence and install the new one in just one day. They also cleaned the area. they were polite and professional, also pointed out the deck issue I need to get fix. I will also recommend them to my friends. The fence has a 7 years warranty. The price was very reasonable.

Frank's crew did an absolutely fantastic job. Upper St. Clair has very strict rules regarding fences, and it took months to get the correct materials and spacing approved. Frank was helpful, professional, and really knowledgeable about the entire process. With COVID 19 it also tool a lot longer to get the materials delivered; when they finally arrived, his crew showed up on schedule, and worked tirelessly until the job was done. They asked me throughout the job if I liked it, if I wanted anything changed, etc. I couldn't be more satisfied with the end result and I would hire them again in a heartbeat!!!!

Frank Michalski came out to our home and I explained about needing the wall replaced. He was very professional and explained what would be done and took the necessary measurements. He sent me my Contractor Agreement to review and sign. Mr. Michalski and two other men on his crew arrived on 8/18/2020 and began the work. The work was completed 8/19/2020. I was extremely impressed by this company. They were very respectful, efficient and precise in their work and cleaned up when they were done. You are able to see that they take pride in their work because the wall looked fantastic. I would definitely hire them again.

Frank’s crew removed old fencing and installed a new 6’ pine picket fence in our backyard. Despite challenging terrain the craftsmanship was outstanding. The fence looks great and like it will outlive me. Frank was incredibly professional and accommodating of our shifting timetable. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

I needed 70 feet of fencing and a new gate. Frank responded very quickly to my initial phone call and was punctual to evaluate the job and discuss options. We discussed different types and fence design. He listened to me about my questions and concerns and offered a solution not usually found in typical catalogs. We had to wait until a neighbor completed some adjacent construction before Frank could order the material which took several weeks. He kept me informed of where he was in the process at all times. When the weather became more conducive for pouring the concrete he and his crew came to put in the posts and returned another day to put up the fence. He cleaned up after himself each day. Frank was always professional, informative, kept me informed of his timetable, was punctual when he stated he would be on the property and was a true team player. He is one of the best contractors I have ever dealt with. I highly recommend him and would not hesitate to use him again

We are delighted with everything about this company. Frank listened to my ideas and then helped me make decisions about plantings when we took a field trip to a local nursery. We selected plants, hedges and trees that add color throughout the year, our easy to maintain and within our budget. Frank, Alex and their staff are fun to work with, respectful, hard workers and totally committed to carrying out the vision. I can’t believe how much they accomplished in one day from taking out the old landscaping, preparing the ground with new soil, getting everything in the ground, adding mulch and then cleaning up every last stray leaf and branch. And all for a reasonable price!!

Excellent! I could not have asked for a more courteous, professional, efficient and prompt experience with a contractor. Frank was in constant communication with me regarding my timeline and design options. He shared addresses of locations where he had performed work for me to view his work. His workers and the on site carpentry build was top notch. They literary built the fence on site. They did not bring in store bought sections. The yard is quite large and while working around rain and cold weather were able to complete the job in 3 days. I will definitely contract them again for other projects. A JOB WELL DONE!

Frank and two team members removed about 16.5 feet of old, rotting, wooden retaining wall and replaced with Versa-lok blocks. Job was completed in one day with crushed limestone base and 2lb limestone backfill for drainage. Very pleased with quality look of the wall. Frank was my fourth and last estimate I received when I started looking into this project. Without him knowing the first three estimates, his was by far, the best. His price was HALF what all other companies wanted to charge, and that really made me feel like he was the only one that was not ripping me off. Frank and co will now be called first the next time I need some work done.

We have an oddly shaped, hilly yard. Frank was exceptionally creative in designing a fence to accommodate not only the shape of the yard, but did a wonderful job blending the slats to make everything look even and flow naturally. He and his crew were always on time, worked the entire day and left the yard and work area neat and clean. He also went the extra mile in coming up with a solution to have the fence blend in with our shed, and enclose any empty spaces. We are very pleased.

The price was not cheap and I have nothing to compare it to. I tried two other companies and neither company returned my call. One of the companies did return it, but I had already contracted with Frank's. Next time I will be sure to get multiple estimates, but there's no reason I would not use him again. The caveat is that I would get a second estimate to make sure I'm getting a good price.

The overall job was completed on time, hardware used for 4 gates that were installed was low quality and the gates warped, we replaced the hardware ourselves, Frank did refund the cost of the hardware but he did not include the labor. The fence had to be reworked in the driveway area due to uneven placement of boards, we fixed this issue ourselves. We had many issues with rain and a large area of topsoil and seed was washed away, this issue was just recently corrected, although we did have to pay the additional cost to have this done. We decided to wait until fall to repeat the top soil and seed for our yard. Frank also does not honor any plant warranties so I suggest that you purchase your own plants so that the nursery supports a warranty, his nursery choice does not warranty plants that are not planted by them.

Frank and his crew went above and beyond. He was not on time because of all the rain we have been getting but every time I called he got back to me and kept us up to date on the schedule. When he got here to fence was up in 2 days. What I was so impressed by his respect and understanding that we have dogs and want them to be safe, plus when my Mom stops by she brings her pug. With a smaller dog you have to look for gaps and small holes. There were some larger gaps and he found a way to block them with left over pieces of the fence and it looks nice not hacked up. The smaller holes were blocked with large rocks in a creative way. They did a great job !!!

It could not have been a better experience! Frank, the owner, contacted me shortly after I made the initial call to get a quote for the project. He contacted me to apologize that the project would be behind in schedule due to the massive amount of rain that we had been getting, and I appreciated him doing so. From the time that Frank and his crew arrived until the project's finish, the work went steadily along. Even when Frank had to leave the site to take loads of materials and stuff to a landfill, the guys kept working. There was no stopping to talk, texting, goofing off. Frank went the extra mile when he did work that was not in the contract and offered advice regarding the fence (and my deck!). He and his entire crew were polite, hard working, and professional the entire time. He got the job done in much less than the originally scheduled time frame. It was refreshing to see "an old-fashioned work ethic" in place. Thank you, Frank, and to your crew for a job well done.

Fantastic experience. I contacted Frank for an estimate, and he was able to stop by our house and drop off an estimate within hours. Once I approved the estimate, Frank found a way to fit our project in between other jobs (it was a small repair job). He showed up one time, got the job done, and billed me less than the estimate! Frank did a wonderful and professional job and we will definitely use him again in the future.

I haven't decided to go with them yet. I'm getting several estimates. They were very prompt too. He made a drawing and a big long list of all the plants that he would put in and he talked to me a couple of times on the phone about questions I had. He's very professional. For one thing, I got his name off of Angie's List. I called him and he returned my call on the same day and we set up an appointment within a day or two I believe. He was on time. He spent a reasonable amount of time looking at my yard and talking to us. We talked over some ideas and then I explained to him that I was going to get more estimates and he was okay with that and he hasn't pestered me or anything after that. I'm leaning towards him quite a bit.
