This company replied back "Wait..just a simple post? Iam a Mason. That is something a 12 year old can do". Thats unacceptable period."

"Terribly. These guys really had no idea what they were doing. They have some "minor" things to finish up and have disappeared. Will not return text messages. They left ridges and low spots and spaces where water will freeze and crack asphalt. Paid the $16000. Half way through paving said that they calculated wrong and with they would put a thinner thickness or I could pay for another truck of hot mix. Cost me another $3000! I'm an idiot not having checked out their work with other customers. Only thing positive is that they were real nice guys."

Placing either a layer of mixed-size gravel or a paver base under your crushed concrete driveway is a good idea. The smaller pieces will compress and prevent the larger pieces of concrete from driving into the soil below, helping to avoid sinking over time under the weight of vehicles. Generally speaking, stain is a better option for concrete because it soaks into the surface and won’t get worn away like a topical paint will. Painting concrete increases the risk that moisture will get trapped beneath the top layer of paint, which wears concrete down over time. So long as you know how to prep concrete for staining, you'll maintain its strength after you finish your project.
