Small jobs welcome

"Curtis was fantastic! His work speaks for itself. His care for my home and making sure everything was done the way I wanted couldn t have been better. I hired him to do some repair work on my screened porch and he was also able to do a couple of other quick fixes while he was here. I will definitely hire him again next time I need work done. Working with Curtis was the complete opposite of what you get by working with a big company. He really cares about his customers and his work."

"They did a good job removing the old wallpaper, discovering my walls are not dry wall but plaster walls that had small cracks all around the room, plastering these cracks, and then painting."

"My husband and I had the pleasure of working with the specialists of Basement Waterproofing Specialists, Inc. this week. For the past several months, we had been combating minor water seepage into our basement after every rain. We tried every "fix" that we could think of before finally caving in and calling professionals to give us their assessment of our situation. We are so happy to have called Basement Waterproofing Specialists, Inc. (BSW). BSW arranged to meet us at our home after work on Tuesday. Two employees arrived promptly on time and immediately began to check our basement for evidence of water damage. Within fifteen minutes after beginning their inspection, they located the source of our problem: a crack in our foundation. After clearly explaining a number of possible solutions to this problem, we scheduled for them to repair the crack the following day. BSW completed the job before 1pm on Wednesday. Not only were they prompt (inspection to end of repair took less than 24 hours!), but they were very considerate of our property. The repair required them to dig into a flower bed, down to the bottom of our home's foundation. Upon completion, the flower bed appears better than before their arrival, for they even graded the bed away from the house. It's incredible! Their work carries a warranty that lasts for the lifetime of our house, too. We highly recommend Basement Waterproofing Specialists, Inc. for any of your basement waterproofing needs."

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

Costs range from $5,000 to $15,000, depending on size, material, and design complexity.

The longevity of flood walls depends on how they were constructed, but most wood, gravel, and cement flood walls last 10 years. While aluminum flood walls may cost far more initially, they can be a good investment as they can last decades and will not be damaged by exposure to the elements.

Most railroad tie retaining walls have a life span of 20 to 30 years, though you may need to replace your wall sooner if it’s repeatedly exposed to heavy rain, runoff, and excess moisture. Railroad ties are typically treated with creosote, which makes them much more durable than untreated wood. Though they last longer, they don’t last forever. For the most longevity, make sure your retaining wall has a sturdy base and steel reinforcements. You should also install drainage to direct water away from the wall.

Poured concrete is often the cheapest material for a retaining wall, costing around $6 to $8 per square foot. Other budget-friendly options include vinyl and landscaping timbers, which range from $10 to $15 per square foot; landscaping timbers are particularly well-suited for DIY projects. Untreated timber and railroad ties are a step up in price, starting at $15 to $25 per square foot. Natural stones can also be a cost-effective choice if you can source them from your own property, but they can be expensive to purchase. High-end materials like steel are typically the most expensive but offer superior durability and aesthetics.

Regular inspection for issues like cracks or leaning and ensuring drainage stays clear.
