"Very prompt response to my inquiry. They did not need to come out to estimate the flooring installation, just from photos and my measurements. They were able to come out the next day. Installers were also prompt and efficient. Cleaned up after themselves and the work quality is very good. Would definitely use them again."

"Dan renovated our small upstairs hallway bathroom into a beautiful, serene space. Dan is patient, neat and detail-oriented. He offered such helpful suggestions throughout the process from recommendations for toilets, tubs, vanity color and places to look for tile other than those that advertise. His work is impressive and all of his suggestions really helped to elevate the design of our bathroom and exceed our expectations. Our downstairs bathroom is our next renovation project and we wouldn't consider anyone else but Dan to do the work."

"I dealt with Michael Spagnolo through the entire process of getting our kitchen backsplash and tub enclosure tiled for our home. Michael was always professional, reliable and very easy to reach if I needed to speak with him. The job was done long distance and he communicated with me and sent me pictures of the work and the progress. He also was able to help with other miscellaneous jobs that we needed repaired as well. He has over 30 years of experience and family history as a tile contractor and has grown up learning to tile first hand from his family. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to tile and his experience shows in the work. He manages a team of Tile layers and I can tell they respected him as well. Being able to trust a contractor from long distance was crucial for our job and Michael never let me down. When I did not like the way some of the tile was layed (trim, minor) I ask that it be fixed and there was no problem at all in getting it corrected. I would use his company again. His company was reliable, dependable and the job was done very well."

"Mitch was very communicative via email which was very helpful. The bill was itemized well so no hidden charges - very clear. He was very flexible throughout the project. The work was completed really well with great quality. We were a day behind (due to us not them) and Mitch could of pushed it to get it done that week but instead said 'i'd rather wait and come back and do it properly instead of rushing it through' - he did and it was worth it! Bob was his team mate and the two of them are very friendly and great workmanship! He even added on a couple of unrelated projects to the project for us and let us know costs. Also fixed a gas leak we didn't know we had! They were also very respectful of the property and took shoes off where they could and cleaned up very well after every day and cleaned up all rubbish from the back! I would high recommend them and I am almost annoyed we have no other projects for these guys!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Different types of tile cutters may work best depending on the type of tile you are cutting and the size of your project. There are two main types of tile cutters: manual and electric. Manual tile cutters are quick and easy to use for small projects and softer tile materials, but they can only make straight cuts. Electric tile cutters make light work of big projects and can cut through harder materials.

Lack of durability is the most significant downside of painting tile. However, a painted tile backsplash doesn't see the same kind of action as, say, painted flooring tiles. For backsplashes, the durability of the finish is crucial because they often require cleaning. However, you can minimize the durability problem by using mild cleaners and water on the painted surfaces.

If you’re handling your tile removal yourself, seal the room using painter’s tape and heavy-duty contractor bags to prevent dust and shards from escaping. Use a claw hammer or a pry bar and a mallet to get behind the tile and pry it away from the floor or wall. Once your tiles are all removed, sweep everything into contractor bags for disposal, being careful not to overfill them. Make sure you wear a dust mask, safety goggles, and work gloves to keep yourself safe from injury while you work.

The number of boxes of tile you need depends entirely on the amount of tile in each box or case. Different manufacturers package their tiles differently, and boxes contain different amounts of tile depending on the size, shape, and material. Often, the amount of area that a case will cover is listed in the product description. To calculate the number of boxes you need, take the total square feet of the space and divide it by the number of square feet the box will cover.

Here’s another instance of where the answer is you could, but that doesn’t mean you should. Yes, part of the issue is getting the drywall to stay in place on the tiles, and it’s understandable that screws will crack the tiles and cause them to crumble. That’s why it’s a much better idea to screw drywall into studs, not your porcelain or ceramic tile. But aside from issues with attaching the drywall, it’s also about ensuring a smooth application without trapping moisture inside.
