"We had a difficult decorative ceramic tile repair job on a kitchen backsplash. The tile had been badly damaged and broken when a new range was installed. Jack Fritz did a great job re-assembling the tile pieces and installing them so that it is hard to see where the damage was. He was professional and his price was very fair."

"I was very satisfied with the tile installation from Tile Invictus. Calvin did a great job, was available when I had questions and was just a very nice person. He was polite and on time. I had my sun room tiled and Calvin took the old icky rug out for me the day he came to do the estimate. I’m happy to be able to use my sun room and it looks beautiful."

"Couldn't be happier with the work Mike & his team did recently at our home. Mike ensures that every detail is thought through and executed professionally. He is a true expert at his trade! The entire Spagnolo team is reliable, efficient, and meticulous. My husband & I had our bathroom shower/tub and floor done initially and loved their work so much that we had them come back to do the tile floors in our kitchen & vestibule. All your tile needs will definitely be met by this team!"

"The grout in our master bath shower was moldy and cracked. We got another estimate but Tony's price was better and he was able schedule the job promptly. He was very professional and friendly. Before starting the work he laid down cardboard over our hardwood floors, and drop cloths over stairs and carpeting. When the old tile was removed it was evident that the builder had used ordinary wallboard behind the tile, which was damp, and would have been more of a problem in years to come if we hadn't replaced it as Tony recommended. The actual job took only 3 days, though it was delayed several times due to the rough winter we had. Tony always kept in touch and was always available by phone. We are very pleased with our new shower. When the job was done, Tony cleaned up everything. He used the garage to cut tile and left it cleaner than when he started. We would definitly have him work for us again and will recommend him to others.

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

The underlayment determines a ceramic tile’s sturdiness, and a cement board or backer board works best. Be sure to tape the joints when using these materials, and consider laying it on top of a layer of thin-set for more stability.

Grouting hearth tiles is one of the most important steps. It seals the tiles so heat doesn’t transfer under the tiles so easily, which can be dangerous. For this reason, heat-resistant grout is a must. Grout also prevents dust, dirt, and any other material from gathering between your tiles. If this happens and those buildups are flammable, a fire could start between the tiles.

Installations typically take 1-3 days, depending on area size; repairs are usually completed sooner if the issue is localized.

The lifespan of bathroom tile can be 50 years or more, depending on proper installation and regular maintenance. A well-done tile job, whether it's a new installation or a retiling project, can last for many decades. To lengthen the life of your tile, it's best to have it installed by a professional and to perform regular maintenance. This includes routine cleaning, resealing, and regrouting as needed. With proper care, you can expect your tile to last 10 years or more before needing major repairs or retiling, especially in high-traffic areas where tiles can wear out more quickly.

You can technically install tile over tile, but we don’t suggest it. Installing tile over any surface that isn’t a completely flat and prepared subfloor will result in a shoddy overall job, uneven flooring, tiles that don’t adhere, extra weight, gaps, cracks, and room for moisture and dirt to enter. For the best results, only install new tile on a flat, sanded surface like subflooring or concrete that is prepared for tile.

If you have asbestos tile and would rather tile over it than remove it, or if your existing tile is completely flat and bonded tightly to the floor, you may be able to tile over existing tile. But experts recommend thinking twice before you do.
