"It went very well. I am extremely pleased with the result. My house was built in 1950 using traditional plaster that is swirled on the cielings and both swirled and textured on the walls. But, because some windows had not been installed or maintained correctly, I had plaster damage around almost every window -- some of it quite severe (down to the metal screen behind the plaster). George did most of the prep work and the cleanup and Scooter did most of the plastering and he was both very meticulous and very talented in matching the patterns -- which were actually different in each room. I had been hoping for a good and professional job but I was amazed and very grateful that he did such an excellent job. He matched the patterns exactly to the surrounding area reagardless of how that looked. Basically, there is no difference between how the walls look now and how they looked when my parents built the place 60 years ago. But, even though the repairs were done perfectly and he knew that they were, Scooter specifically asked me to look at each spot and let him know if I wanted anything done differently (whcih I didn't); They then cleaned up so you couldn't even tell that they were there (actually the place is probably cleaner now than it was when they arrived!). Thank you Kalanish! Great job!"

"I am on the Board of a historic property on the National Register, The David Bradford House Museum in Washington, PA. I had previously utilized Bobby's company on a ceiling project in my 110-year old house. I was very pleased with the responsiveness, price, and quality of the work performed. When our house museum needed a crack repaired in an 1803 portion of the building, I was given a recommendation of another plasterer, whom I called. He was unavailable as he has retired, but, he recommended Bobby. I remembered Bobby's excellent work and recommended him to our Board. His price was almost half of another bid that we received, and he was ready to do the job immediately. We would not let just anyone work on a historic property, but I could recommend Bobby Dell'Aquila for your 18th, 19th, 20th, or 21st century home. You will appreciate his timely initiation of the job; his very reasonable pricing; and his personable demeanor."

"Extensive prep work with peeling white paint on top of dark wood, needed to be sanded extensively.  Ceiling work, patchng, careful trim work on ceilings and panels, polyurethane built in china cabinets and banister. Excellent work on ceilings, walls and trim. They were responsive when a test area showed color we chose was not what we wnated and we were able to choose another color before a large room was painated.  Be sure to specify that both sides of door frames are to be painted. They were very responsive when we noted polyurethane drips on a painted wall and Dan came on a Saturday to fix it. Work done included ceilings, walls, baseboards, trim, doorways for a large living room, dining room, 2 breezeways, stairway to second floor with banister and spindles and second floor hallway. Took 3 weeks to complete. Pay attention to detail."

"This was such a positive experience.  The owner, Don contacted me within hours of my request to be called.   He came to the house and gave my husband and me an honest estimate of the work.  Took a paint chip from our ceiling; bought the paint for us, trusting us to reimburse him.  This was so much easier and less expensive.  Promised to call back on a Friday and let us know when he could do the work.  It ended up being the following Monday.  We were very happy to get this done so soon.  Randy, an expert painter, arrived promptly on the morning of October 19 and worked almost to 6 p. m.
His work was meticulous.  Nothing was paint splattered.  The ceilings look new.  The information that Randy gave my husband while doing the repairs which included more that we expected (securing loose ceiling drywall, sanding, etc.)  proved that he was not an amateur painter.
The cost for the day was a real bargain for what we received in service.  I chose this company because of the previous reviews.  I am glad that I did.  You will not be disappointed by this company.
It is so refreshing to find professionals that really are professional and have integrity that is often missing in this world.

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

Yes, you just may need to add an extra coat or two of primer to already painted ceilings. This will help mask the old paint and give you a fresh canvas on which to add your new texture.

Smooth ceilings create a modern, clean look that helps brighten rooms by reflecting light, making spaces feel more open. They're easy to paint and maintain but can show imperfections. Textured ceilings add character and hide flaws like cracks or uneven drywall. With a range of patterns, you can opt for a subtle texture or something more decorative. The choice between smooth and textured ceilings comes down to your personal style and the look you want for your space.

While you should consult with a ceiling professional for larger cracks, especially if you’re not sure what’s causing your ceiling to crack, you can certainly try to repair small cracks on your own. If you’re up for the task, here’s how to repair ceiling cracks for $150 or less.

No, you do not have to worry about new popcorn ceilings having asbestos. All residential building materials used since the mid-1980s stopped including asbestos, so new popcorn ceilings have no risk of asbestos. You can still create a textured drywall ceiling with a popcorn texture if you like, but new techniques have no risk of adding asbestos.

If your popcorn ceiling is asbestos-free and you are ready for a new look, painting is an option. As long as there is no flaking or other wear, a new coat of paint might be just the thing to refresh the old ceiling. The best way to paint a popcorn ceiling is to use either a paint sprayer or a thick roller to cover the popcorn texture fully. (Do not forget to dust it off beforehand!)

“Note that if you eventually want to remove the popcorn ceiling, a painted ceiling is a labor-intensive job to remove and will cost more,” says Bob Tschudi. “Once painted, the process of removing the popcorn ceiling requires physical scraping as opposed to a spray-and-scrape approach. It’s very labor-intensive, and thus more costly.”
