To remove dog or cat urine from a microfiber couch, use a safe solution for your furniture based on its cleaning code. First, blot up as much as possible, then cover the area with baking soda for a few hours to remove the smell. For S cleaning codes, use a spray bottle to spritz the stained area with rubbing alcohol and gently scrub with a microfiber cloth until the urine is gone. Use the same process for W or S-W cleaning codes but with 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of rubbing alcohol. 

Many household items neutralize the smell of urine, including fabric sprays and baking soda, a great odor absorber. Or try combining baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to cut through the smell. If these items don’t work to completely remove the smell of pet urine, try an enzymatic cleaner, which works to break down organic matter such as urine, and is readily available at most pet stores.

You can find the smell of mold in your house in two ways: following your nose, and using common sense tactics like looking anywhere there’s water first. Mold cannot form in a completely dry environment, which is why you see mold much more often under kitchen sinks than on garage floors. If you have looked everywhere and still can’t find the source, hire a pro, because you may have mold in your walls.

Most carpet cleaning solutions are safe to use in the home. However, to avoid irritation and health issues you can look for a neutral, mild detergent, especially one that’s marked as nontoxic or eco friendly. When in doubt, always check out the ingredient list. Some cleaning options only use steam heat to clean with little or no detergent, which could be an option if you’re worried.
